The one holding the clipboard pulled out a phone, shot off a text, and then looked at Sebastian. “Who do we have here?”

“Nolan Wallace.” He brushed my hair away from my eyes. “We’ll need to change that soon.”

“Nolan Aarons sounds nice.” I smiled.

“And what brings you in?” She smiled at us as the curtain parted and a large, bulky man stood there.

My skin crawled with my next breath. “Doctor Frangulin.”

He pursed his lips. “Ladies? Bring the young man a hot chocolate to warm him up.” He looked over his shoulder. “And have Shar bring him something from maternity for pain.”

The young nurse nodded. “Of course, doctor.”

In a matter of moments, we were alone with him. “You must be the father.”

“Do you know each other?” Sebastian’s hold tightened around me.

“Myra.” He rolled his eyes. “I have been looking for an omega that could… take part in my research.”

“Oh.” I reached for Sebastian’s hand.

“I’m merely curious about how your species procreates.” He walked over to the chair and sat down.

“Did he harm you, Nolan?” I felt his anger, and I shook my head.

“I examined him and took a sample of blood and urine.” He held his hands up. “But the samples were not viable for my research.”

“Why?” Sebastian looked confused.

“Because he’s pregnant.”

“Nolan?” Sebastian shifted his gaze to me.

“I guess that’s why I was moody.” I cringed and felt his hand cover my flat belly.

“We’re having a baby?” Wonder and awe filled his voice.

I nodded and he leaned down to kiss me. The doctor cleared his throat.

“Sorry.” Sebastian chuckled.

“I know Myra.” The doctor tapped his fingers on the arm of the chair. “After seeing the situation Nolan was in, I made a call to the council.”

“What?” My mouth dropped open.

“Young man, I am a respected doctor.” He tilted his head. “She led me to believe you were there by choice. And that’s how I prefer my participant.” He raised an eyebrow. “There was a bottle of a muscle paralyzer on her workbench.”

“That’s why I couldn’t move.” I felt my face twist in anger.

“Indeed.” He steepled his hands together. “Your pregnancy looked normal.”

I relaxed against Sebastian. “What else can I expect?”

“It’ll take a few days for the pain to wear off, but you’ll be fine.”

“Thank you.” I smiled at him.

“I already examined him. Unless you want me to do it again?” He looked at Sebastian.
