Um. Your girl is here. She’s on beer 4

and I caught mention your mom tried to pay her off

Beer 5

Rage filled every pore on my body. “Speaking of callousness. I know what you did.” I glared at her.

A brief flash of guilt passed over her face. “I was only trying to do what would be best for you and Darrin.”

My dad sat back in his chair, shaking his head.

“His fucking name is Dillon. Her fucking name is Miranda.” I stood up and shook the food off of my body. “Do me a favor. Don’t come around.”

“It was only a hundred thousand.” She slammed her hand down. “That came from my savings. You’re an ingrate! No matter what I’ve tried to do for you.”

“You tried to control me. Use me. Play me.” I shook my head and walked around my dad. “No more. I’m done.”

As I stormed towards the door, I heard my dad laugh. “This was great.”

I waited for him to catch up before I opened the door and walked out.

“Can you get the boys from daycare thisevening?. She’s loaded at the pub and I need to set her straight.”

“Yep.” He pulled me into a hug. “I’m proud of you.”

“Thanks, Dad.”

“Go get your girl.” He chuckled as he walked over to his car.

Miranda

Walking felt difficult. Probably because the floor was moving under my feet as I made my way back to the table from the bathroom.

A basket of rolls appeared in front of me.

“Wh… Where did you come from?” I leaned over, sniffing the warm baked treat. “I luffs rolls.”

“We ordered them for you, Doll.” Ronnie took one and split it open.

“That’s what he calls me.” I sighed and leaned my head on her shoulder.

Ronnie waved the roll under my nose. “Doesn’t it smell delicious?”

“Mm-hmm.” I picked one up and petted it. “They’re soft.”

“And they’ll soak up some of that alcohol.” She smiled and held it to my lips.

I heard Vivian laugh, but I wasn’t sure which Viv was laughing, as there were two of her sitting across from me.

Raising my hand in the air, I waved at Paul. “Barkeep!”

Tara pulled me to sit up. “I think we’ve let you have enough.”

I turned and grabbed her face. “Do you know what sucks about this whole messed up situation? I love him.”

“We know.” She said, looking like a guppy from the way I smooshed her face.

“I have to tell him I don’t want him to go away again.” I reached for the empty bottle on the table. “I’mma need another.”
