“It’s time to switch to water.” Edie reached for the empty bottle. “You know. I don’t think we’ve ever seen you drunk.”

“Pfft.” I grabbed a roll and stumbled to the bar. “Beer, please.”

“Uh.” The bartender looked at me and shook her head. “I think you’re good.”

“And I think I need another.”

“My boss said no.” She pointed to Paul.

“Paulie!” I waved him over. “Just one more.”

“I think you’ve had enough.” Henry’s deep voice made me shiver.

Narrowing my eyes at Paul, I snarled. “You called him.”

I felt the heat of his body against mine, and I wanted to drag him to a dark corner and kiss him, then slap him.

His breath warmed my ear, and he crooned softly. “C’mon Holly Hobbie. Time to go.”

As I turned to face him, I felt like one of those old toys that you hit the button on the bottom to make them dance funny.

Stick to your resolve. Don’t let him in.

“Henry.” I placed my hand on my hip. “I told you.”

“You told me a bunch of bullshit.” He tilted my face up as he looked down into my eyes. Henry was close enough that his breath tickled my lips. “We need to talk.”

“Are the boys … okay?”

“Yep.”

“Then there’s nothin’ to talk ‘bout.” I set my chin in what I hoped was a firm stance that would show him I meant business.

He turned and looked at the table of girls. “Did she drive here?”

Tara yelled over. “I drove.”

I snapped my head towards her. “Traitor!”

He gave her a thumbs up and then scooped me up in a fireman’s hold, leaving the pub with me.

“You! Uh! You!” I smacked at his ass, noticing how hard it was.

I wonder if I could bite it?

I heard a car door open, and he pulled me down from his shoulder and sat me in the car. He pointed his finger at me, one eyebrow up, and growled. “Stay.”

Holy hell, he’s hot when he’s angry.

Leaning forward, my drunk ass decided to open my mouth and wrap my lips around his fingers, suckling.

“Miranda.” His breathing hitched and his eyes narrowed.

I pulled off his finger and sat back in the seat. He buckled my seatbelt and closed the door to run around and a moment later; he got in the driver’s seat.

“Yours or mine?” His voice rumbled through his chest, making my skin react with goosebumps.

Shrugging, I turned to look out the window, ignoring him.
