Dad got up and tossed his empty cup in the trash. “You know … you’ll be childless this weekend.”

“Nice.” I laughed. “Thanks, Dad.”

He gave me a wink and left the office as Jake walked in. “Boss. We need ya.”

“I’m coming.” Walking away from my desk, thoughts swirled in my head for the weekend.

Maybe we could take a bike ride down the old trails?

I grabbed my hardhat and joined the guys outside.

The day flew by as we worked together and found a way to make the changes the client wanted. I was finishing up a few things in the office when the boys called to say they were off with Grandpa for the weekend.

Sitting back in my chair, I messaged Miranda.

Me

Hey sexy you got plans for tonight?

Miranda

As it would happen, I do. But don’t tell my husband.

Me

Oh yeah?

Miranda

You busy?

Me

Nope

Miranda

Treehouse?

Well, hell yeah! My wife must’ve been reading my mind.

Me

You got it!

The work could wait until Monday. I pushed away from my desk and grabbed my keys. I had a date to get to.

Driving over to the park, I couldn’t stop smiling at the memories that flooded back. The first time we kissed. The meeting in the treehouse where we kissed again.

And then there was the night she told me I was going to be a dad.

“Fuck.” A hard sigh filled the cab. “If only I’d known.”

On my way towards the park, I saw the sign for the Oopsie Daisy flower shop. Pulling into the small parking lot, I left the truck running to dash inside.

The door to the shop closed behind me, and a small dog wandered over, sniffing my leg. “Well, hello there.”

“Duke, let the man in.” I heard the voice, and a woman appeared before me. “Sorry about her.”
