Yep. Gramps didn’t say how long, so who knows

Tara

Maybe I can come over

Me

Maybe

My heart hurts. I’d had a crush on Henry since middle school and I really thought when he kissed me that it meant as much to him as it did to me. I stupidly thought he would ditch Victoria and ask me out.

Screw him. He deserves that witch.

Henry

I sat in my driveway with my head on the steering wheel since I got home. Miranda didn’t answer my texts and when I tried calling her, I couldn’t get through.

She deserved an explanation.

The front door slammed shut, and I looked up in time to see her grandpa glaring at me as he walked to his truck.

Shit. How did I miss that parked there?

I flew out of my car before he got in and ran over. “Mr. Walker!”

“Young man, I suggest you stop right there.” His icy blue glare froze me in my spot.

“Sir, I just…”

“You just nothing.” He pointed at me. “You stay away from my granddaughter.”

“But …”

“But nothing.” He took a deep breath. “If I catch you near her, I will shoot on site.”

I felt the blood drain from my face.

“Say you understand.”

“You would …”

“Young man, I will shoot you if you come near her, say you understand.”

“I understand.” My heart fell to my feet.

He got inside his truck, started it, almost hit me, driving around in the circle to leave. I stood in place until I couldn’t see his taillights and then went inside.

“Henry?” Dad called from his office.

“Yeah.” I dropped my backpack and walked closer.

“Get in here and close the door.” He growled at me and when I walked in, he shook his head. “What the hell were you thinking?”

I closed the door, confused. “It was a prank.”

“Sleeping with someone younger than you isnota prank!” He slammed his hands on his desk.
