After talking with Tank and Mitch, Lucky gave Trinity a warm hug before he left. “You have a great time, sweetheart. Remember the rules and be good for Mitch and Tank. Daddy will be back before you know it." With one last kiss on her forehead, Lucky left the house.

Trinity practically skipped into the playroom, excitement bubbling inside her chest. The sight of her friends' faces as they walked in had her grinning from ear to ear. Delilah's eyes widened at the Peter Rabbit mural, and Mia let out a gasp of delight at the dollhouse in the corner. Even Kayla, typically reserved, couldn't contain her awe at the setup Lucky had prepared for them. The girls immediately gravitated toward the dollhouse, creating intricate storylines for the dolls and immersing themselves in their imaginative play. Delilah andTrinity took charge of organizing a pretend tea party, while Mia and Kayla giggled as they played dress-up with the dolls from the dollhouse.

“These cupcakes look scrumdelicious!” Delilah said, putting one on each of the small plastic plates on the table.

“Red velvet are my favorite, but I also picked out chocolate with buttercream and lots of sprinkles. I don’t know how I am going to choose!” Trinity said, putting a juice box at each seat. There was a bowl of cut up fruit salad and another of goldfish already on the table.

“We could share! Each of us can have half!” Delilah suggested.

“Oh yes! I like that idea! Tea party time!” She called to Kayla and Mia who quickly came to the table.

“Yummy! Cupcakes!” Mia clasped her hands. The girls quickly started to eat the sugary treats.

“How are you holding up?” Kayla asked.

“Kayla! Not cool!” Mia said. “It’s little day, not big day! No talking about adult stuff during our playdate!”

“Sorry,” Kayla said sheepishly. “I’m new to all this.”

“It’s okay,” Trinity put her hand over Kayla’s. “Just relax and have fun. Don’t force anything.”

“Did you get the butterfly cupcake just for me?” Mia asked.

“I did!” Trinity said, knowing it was Mitch’s nickname for Mia.

“I loves it. I loves it so much. It’s too pretty to eat. Almost!” She took a giant bite and got purple frosting on her face.

Trinity was in her element, fully embracing her little space as she chatted animatedly with her friends and participated in all the fun activities. She was lost in her own world of make-believe as she sat in front of the dollhouse making up an elaborate fairytale. The hours flew by as they tea-partied with juice and cupcakes, their bond growing stronger with everyshared moment of joy. The only time the men interrupted was to remind them to take potty breaks and when they brought up pizza midday.

The worries of the outside world melted away as she painted a picture of a unicorn next to Delilah. Trinity didn’t know how badly she needed time with her girlfriends, where they were allowed to slip into their Little headspaces without fear of judgment or condemnation. Although she wished the playdate was formed under a different circumstance, she was glad for the opportunity to spend time getting to know the girls better. Mia and Delilah were both preschool littles, like she was, and Kayla was a middle, acting very much as a big sister throughout the playdate. Kayla, as it turned out, was quite artistic.

“What a beautiful picture!” Trinity said, looking at Kayla’s drawing of a lazy kitty cat on a porch.

“Thank you! This cat drives me nuts, but I’ve come to love Felix,” Kayla said. “He lives on Valhalla, and he doesn’t belong to anyone. Well, he belongs to all of us!”

“That is definitely a fridge picture!” Mia said, peering at it. “Felix has a girlfriend! She came over to my house the other day!”

“A girlfriend?” Kayla asked.

“Uh-huh. She’s orange! Bright orange! I called her Tangi, like Tangerine. Daddy said I can’t bring her into the house. Think she’ll have kittens?”

“No,” Kayla shook her head. “Felix can’t do it. I removed—” Kayla paused, “I mean, the vet removed the parts that allow it.”

Trinity grabbed her hand and squeezed it. A silent way to show her appreciation. “Darn! I like kittens.”

“Do you think your Daddy will let you get a kitty?” Delilah asked her. “My Daddy is ‘llergic.”

“I don’t know.” Trinity shrugged. “I hasn’t thought about it. Most of our friends have big, shaggy dogs!”

“True! But not many have kitties.

For a few precious hours, she was just a carefree Little Girl enjoying her playdate with her best friends.

When Lucky cleared his throat in the doorway, Trinity pushed her doll out of the way and ran to him. Throwing her arms around his waist, she squealed, “Daddy, I had so much fun! Thank you for letting me have a playdate with my friends."

Lucky hugged her tightly back. “I’m happy to hear that. Did you listen to Uncle Mitch and Uncle Tank?”

“I did! I followed all the rules!”
