“That’s my good girl.” He kissed the bridge of her nose. “Time to say goodbye to your friends. It’s been a long day.”

“I don’t want to go!” Mia said. “I’m having too much fun.”

“You’ve hit your fun quota, Butterfly.” Mitch stepped around Lucky into the large room. “Say thank you to Uncle Lucky and let's get your coat on.”

“You too, Kayla.” Mad Dog followed Mitch in the room.

“Uh oh. That means…” Delilah said, looking up at all the daddies now looming in the room.

“Yes, it does.” Tank confirmed.

“But I’m her bestie!” Delilah said.

“And her bestie can talk to her later. You’ve had nothing but junk food today. Time to get home and get something nutritious in you.” Tank said.

“He means vegetables,” Delilah whispered to Trinity.

“No! Not vegetables!” Trinity whispered back, feigning a look of horror, and putting both of her hands on her cheeks.

“No vegetables! No vegetables! No vegetables!” Mia started the chant and the rest of the girls joined in before collapsing on the floor together in a fit of laughter.

“All right, enough,” Tank said, a hint of teasing behind his admonishing. “All of you but Trinity, out!”

The girls all got lifted off the floor by their Daddies and Trinity heard a couple of swats being applied to bottoms as they walked down the stairs. “Stay here, I’ll let them out,” Lucky said. “I’ll be right back.”

CHAPTER 10

LUCKY

"Check your pieces," he murmured, his voice a low rumble as he slid his own gun from its holster. The cool metal was an extension of his resolve. The sound of magazines clicking into place was the chorus to their impending war cry. There was an unspoken language in the room, a shared understanding that words were unnecessary.

“Comms check,” he called out, and one by one, affirmations crackled through the earpieces. Finally, they were ready to ride. The secluded scenic viewpoint was right around the bend, another mile and they’d be at the cabin. Even with everything going on, Lucky took time to breathe in the fresh mountain air and appreciate the endless sky filled with stars as far as the eye could see. They sparkled against the pitch-black backdrop unlike anywhere else on earth.

As they approached the secluded location where Rake had taken up camp, Lucky signaled with a subtle gesture, and the bikes fell into formation. He knew the stakes; he felt the weight of their mission pressing down on him.

“Stay sharp.” Lucky's voice cut through the comm chatter, every word dripping with dominance and concern. They drew to a halt, the dust settling around them like a cloak. The tension inthe air was palpable, a prelude to the storm that was about to break. Together, they stepped off their bikes, moving in perfect synchrony.

Lucky’s phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled it out and read the text message.

Unknown Caller: Got something for you about Rake. Not what he seems. Dig deeper.

Lucky’s jaw clenched. He wasn’t happy about receiving messages from unknown numbers. He hit the number to call it and held the phone to his ear. No answer. No voicemail. Continuous ringing. Sighing, he turned his phone to silent and stuck it in his pocket.

“Tread carefully but investigate thoroughly. We find the truth, and we do it without tipping our hand,” Lucky said over comms. The response was a symphony of clicks, confirming the message had gotten through.

Once the rest of the officers had spread out around the cabin, Lucky walked up the front steps and pounded on the door. No answer. He pounded harder.

Silence.

“His bike’s here behind the cabin,” Slash said over comms. He’s in there.

“Rake, I know you are in there, open the fucking door,” Lucky called out, pounding hard on the door.

As the door creaked open, Lucky's gaze met Rake’s steely eyes, a silent challenge passing between them. There was no need for words; they both knew what was at stake.

“Lucky,” Rake said evenly. “What brings you to my humble abode?” He smirked.

“One of mine turned. Viper. I need to know what Hell Speed knows and what they are planning for Grand Ridge. Most importantly, are our women in danger?” Lucky's jaw tightened with barely contained anger.
