“We can’t have this conversation out in the open. Come in.” Rake motioned him forward.

Lucky paused for a second then stepped into the cabin, his eyes never leaving Rake's face as he assessed the situation. The air crackled with tension.

“Viper,” Lucky muttered, his voice low and dangerous. “Found out he's a snake in the grass. We need to find out what Hell Speed knows, and fast.”

Rake nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. “I've been working my own angle,” he admitted, his tone was serious. “But I need your help to put the pieces together.”

Lucky's gaze narrowed, a flicker of suspicion crossing his features. “What angle?” he demanded in a sharp voice.

Rake hesitated for a moment. “I'm not who you think I am,” he confessed, barely above a whisper. “I'm an undercover federal agent, and I've been gathering intel on Hell Speed for months. We work for the same side.”

Lucky's eyes widened in disbelief, his mind struggling to process the revelation. “You're a Fed?” he exclaimed in a voice laced with shock. "And you've been playing them the whole time?"

Rake held up his hands in a placating gesture, his gaze steady. “I know how it looks, but I had to keep my cover intact,” he insisted. “I've been working to take down Hell Speed from the inside, but things got complicated when Viper went rogue. I know your men are all honorably discharged special operations officers, as am I. I couldn’t stand back and watch, or hell, participate in hurting you or Elite. It was one thing when my undercover persona was taking down evil fucking men, butI drew the line when it came to the Spartans. People started getting suspicious, I had to get out without blowing my partner’s cover too.”

Lucky studied Rake's face, searching for any hint of deception. But all he saw was determination, a steely resolve that matched his own. Slowly, he nodded, a grim acceptance settling over him.

“Your partner? Is he still undercover?” Lucky asked.

“Yeah, she is. Her name is Crystal and she’s the leader’s old lady, or at least, he thinks she is.” Lucky blinked quickly, that was the last thing he was expecting Rake to say.

“What can you tell me? How do I keep my men safe?”

“I can tell you Viper is a good guy. He might have appeared to turn, but he’s been giving them nothing but false information. They have videos of his sister, I think she’s like nineteen, having sex and they are using it as blackmail. His mom isn’t here legally, not sure if you know that, and they’ve been threatening her as well. He’s done all he can to walk the line between loyalty to you and keeping his family safe.”

“He should have come to me. We’d have figured it out together,” Lucky said.

“I won’t argue that, but the kid is young. He’s what twenty-four?”

“Twenty-two. Our youngest member. Got injured on his first tour.”

“Yeah, you might give him a break.”

“Look, Rake. I appreciate you looking out for him, but that’s not what this conversation is about. Before they kidnapped Hunter’s girl, we’d warned Hell Speed away from Grand Ridge. I know the history between Los Pedro and Valhalla. Is the new leader of Hell Speed going to honor our previous deal with the now deceased leader or is there something we should be worried about?” Lucky asked.

“You need to be worried, very worried. Not only about fentanyl. They want revenge. It was your bullet that killed the leader.”

Rake's words hung heavy in the air, the weight of their implications settling like a suffocating blanket over the room. Lucky's jaw clenched, his mind racing with the gravity of the situation. Revenge was a dangerous game, one he knew all too well.

“We can't afford to underestimate them,” Lucky said, his voice tight with determination. “The Watchmen will need to be ready for whatever they throw at us.”

Rake nodded in agreement; his expression was grim. “They won't hesitate to use any means necessary to get what they want,” he warned. “You’ll need to stay one step ahead of them. They have no moral compass, Lucky. You saw how they didn’t hesitate to kidnap Hunter’s girl or use Viper’s mother or sister against him.”

Lucky's gaze hardened, his resolve strengthening with each passing moment. “We protect our own, no matter the cost,” he vowed, his voice a low growl of determination.

Rake nodded.

“But first,” Lucky said, his voice cutting through the tension like a knife, “we need to find out what they are planning and where they plan on striking.”

Rake nodded again. “I'll see what I can dig up,” he promised. “But I need to tread carefully. I can’t blow Crystal’s cover and we don't want to tip our hand too soon.”

“Thanks, Rake,” he said, his voice heavy with emotion. “I owe you one.”

Rake waved off the sentiment, his focus already shifting to the task at hand. "We're in this together," he said simply, and steady. “I’ll get back to you soon—and Lucky, keep an eye on your woman.”

“Don’t worry, I will.”
