“Ah, guys, I can hear you. I’m busting my ass here, so this is all my doing, thank you very much,” Becca commented, another dummy exploding into a cloud of ashes. At least now she’d learned to aim her magic at things. Redmond owned a house in Denver that was now missing a ceiling. After that we’d moved into a large warehouse. Redmond had the funds. Vampires were always inexplicably wealthy. He told me: ‘If you were alive for three-hundred years and still struggling to pay the bills, just stake yourself.’

“You’re right,” I replied, smiling again. “What do you say, we go hunt tonight?

Despite now sleeping with a vampire, and having a hybrid as a sister, there were still evil things that needed killing roaming the streets.

“I’m game.” Despite sounding nonchalant, Becca couldn’t keep the excitement off her face. Honestly, it was a good thing we didn’t play poker with her, because her poker face sucked.

“How about you?” I asked my lover, turning around to look at him.

“Raincheck. I have some… business to take care of.” He winked in a way that hid his face from Becca. Not that she was paying us any attention anyway. She’d rushed off to shower and get dressed without looking at us.

Redmond knew how much time with my sister meant to me, so he tried to give us as much time alone as possible. All the years Becca had been cooped up had led to her feeling left out and utterly useless. Deep down, she’d started resenting me. I was ashamed that I hadn’t noticed before and felt like the worst sister ever.

But now she finally felt as if she could accomplish something. Make the world a better place. She accepted her new appearance much better than I ever would have, if that had been me. Not only were her arms, face and other parts of her body covered with greenish scales, and she had the typical vampire fangs, but she also had the same trade-mark red eyes of a demon.

I supposed all in all my sister wasn’t just a hybrid, she was the world’s first tribrid.

My jaw clenched. There were people out there who would kill to get their hands on her. I wouldn’t let them. I’d do worse things than kill to keep her safe. Becca had been strapped to enough tables and poked with more than enough needles.

“You worry too much,” Redmond said. “We’ll keep her safe.”

“I know, it’s just, I feel responsible for her.”

“She’s more powerful than either of us,” he pointed out.

I sighed. “Oh, I know.”

“I could distract you,” he murmured. “You know she takes forever to shower. We have time.”

I bit my lower lip. Heat flared into my abdomen when I saw his eyes darken into a dark inky black. My instincts warned me to run. Instead, I stepped closer. Winding his hand into my hair, he cupped the back of my head, pulling me closer, his lips claiming mine in a kiss that took my breath away. Wasting no time, he picked me up and carried me out of the training hall and into the room we shared, kicking the door closed behind him. We barely made it onto the bed. With a swiftness only the undead possessed he undressed me, pushing my legs apart as soon as my shirt, pants, and underwear hit the ground. His mouth fastened on my left nipple while his hand teased my right one. With trembling fingers, I tried to undo the buttons of his shirt, and when I failed, I ripped it open instead, anxious to feel his skin under my fingers.

This man really was my kryptonite. Leaving a trail of kisses on my stomach Redmond moved down my body. I arched back as he buried his face between my legs, almost slipping off the bed as he tasted and licked the sensitive skin at my center. A moan wrenched past my lips as he pushed one finger inside me, then two. Pumping in and out his fingers were slick with my juices, and I was drenched with sweat.

I was no longer moaning, instead my voice made a noise that no longer resembled any human sound I knew of. With the same speed he’d undressed me his clothes were thrown aside, and he was on top of me. My legs were wrapped around his waist in an instant, pulling him closer as he pushed into me. My mind went blank as he started to move. In a frantic, almost blind need my fingers clawed into his back, as if I could somehow climb into him. I needed more of him.

Redmond moved faster, thrusting into me with a speed that was utterly inhuman, and I reveled in it. Balancing his weight on one arm, his other hand found my clit. The twin sensations of what his fingers were doing and him pumping in and out of me was too much. Not enough.

A scream tore out of me, and it was a good thing we soundproofed this room. Moments later he shouted and collapsed on top of me, both of us out of breath.

I smiled. “I thought vampires don’t need to breathe,” I teased.

Redmond buried his head in the curve of my neck, inhaling deeply. “Intoxicating.”

The smile still on my lips I propped myself up and gave him a kiss. “I have to go.”

Redmond stared after me, a grin on his face that told me he was contemplating following me into the bathroom. But if he did, I’d never make it out in time to go on the hunt with Becca.

I just made it back into the training hall before my sister came back, Redmond right behind me. His shower had been even faster than mine. I’d even managed to blow-dry my hair and was now sitting with what hopefully looked like a bored expression on my face.

Becca came hurtling back into the training room with her hair still wet but tied back to keep it out of her face. Good thing she could no longer catch a cold. She wore a long-sleeved top and makeup covered the scales on her face. There was nothing she could do about the eyes, apart from sunglasses, but we could always claim they were contacts if anyone saw us. Not that we’d let us be seen. “Can we go now?”

“Sure,” I said, hoping my eyes didn’t betray what Redmond and I had been doing. My cheeks flamed as I caught his eye.

Redmond chuckled at my lips as he gave me one last kiss.

“You take care of your sister,” Redmond said in a mock stern voice to Becca.

“Yeah, yeah.” She rolled her eyes and sauntered past us; her head held high.
