Gabe: We’re here for whatever you need.

Luc: Sure thing.

Rico: What they said.

Me: I’ll see you all in the morning.

Figuring I’d wasted enough time, I stood, locked the front door, then grabbed two bottles of water from the fridge before heading back to the bedroom. When I crossed the threshold, the sight of her curled up under my sheets nearly did me in. I hadn’t been a saint over the years, but my hard and fast rule had always been to never bring a woman to my home unless she was there for keeps. It hit me like a punch to the gut. Quin was in my bed with our baby growing inside her body. You couldn’t get much more permanent, unless she had my ring on her finger.

Stripping down to my boxers, I plugged my phone in to charge, then crawled in beside her. There was too much distance between us. I needed her in my arms, so I moved to the middle of the bed and hooked her around the waist, hauling her slight frame back against my chest. Curling one arm under her head for support, I wrapped the other around her body until it came to rest on her stomach.

“You could’ve just asked me to move,” she huffed.

“This was easier.”

“Whatever.”

“Go to sleep, baby.”

She relaxed farther into my hold and within minutes, her breathing changed. Sleep found her quickly and I followed her shortly after. Lying there—with my whole world wrapped in my arms—I didn’t hear the voices of my captors or the screams of pain from my comrades. There was only silence. Only peace.

Quinlan

BLINKING MY EYESopen to unfamiliar surroundings, I tensed momentarily until I remembered the events from the night before. There was just enough light filtering through the small window for me to see that not only was I in Alec’s bed, I was essentially using him as a human pillow.

Obviously, we’d shifted positions during the night because he was lying on his back and I was curled into his side; my head resting against his hard chest and my left arm sprawled across his abs. I felt his hand twitch where he was gripping my underwear-covered ass, overtop the shirt he’d given me to wear, but otherwise he didn’t move.

Taking a chance, I carefully lifted my head to sneak a peek, however my efforts were in vain. Instead of a sleeping Alec, I was met by steel-gray eyes and a sexy-as-hell smile.

“Morning, baby.” His normally deep voice was even rougher with the remnants of sleep.

“Morning,” I muttered.

“Come here.”

“I’m already here.”

Sighing, he squeezed my ass. “Come closer.”

“Morning breath.”

“I don’t give a fuck.”

He flipped us then and—morning breath be damned—slammed his mouth to mine. There was no hesitation when his tongue surged inside, tangling with mine. I moaned and my panties dampened when he shifted again, coming overtop of me with one arm bent, elbow to the bed, and his hard, long cock pressed between my thighs. Raising my hips, I rubbed against him, searching for the friction my body so desperately needed.

“Be still, Firefly.” He kissed his way down the side of my neck. “I’m not fucking you yet, baby.”

“You might want to tell that to your dick,” I groaned as his fingers traced barely-there circles from my hip to the side of my breast.

Without warning, my belly flipped, and not in a good way. I covered my mouth with one hand while pushing against his chest with the other.

“What the—”

“Move.”

I slid from underneath him and raced to the bathroom, managing to flip up the lid on the toilet before I dropped to my knees. The hair was pulled back from my face and a cool cloth was placed across the back of my neck as I emptied my stomach.

“I’ve got you, baby.”
