I glance down at my crotch.Down, boy.

It’s gonna be a long night.

Mr. James walks into my office at midnight. “Hi, Mr. Quinn. I just wanted to let you know that we’re all headed out for the evening. We’ve made some decent progress on how to continue with Quellin. We can continue next week.”

His cell phone chimes in his hand, and with an annoyed glance, he silences it before putting it back in his pocket.

“Good enough. Have a good night, Mr. James.” I wave him off as I finish rereading the same line in this document for the tenth time.

I groan, realizing that I’ve burned myself out. My phone vibrates on my desk, startling me. I rush to pick it up, worried something has happened with Sean. No one texts me this late unless there’s an emergency. My nerves calm when I see Hadley’s name on the screen.

“Howya, a mhuirnín. Did you have a good night?”

I can hear loud music thumping in the background, letting me know she is still at the club.

“Connor.” She sounds deliriously happy to hear my voice. “I tried to get a ride, but he didn’t answer,” she slurs into the phone with an obvious pout on her lips, clearly several drinks in.

I can’t stop the growl before it leaves my throat, but I manage to keep my tone even.

“Stay where you are. I’ll be there in ten minutes. Do you need me to stay on the phone?” I ask as I grab my suit jacket and keys.

I walk toward the elevator and stab at the button to go down, anger slowly building inside my body.

“We’re okay. We’ll wait for you out front.” Her voice quivers, and she sounds on the verge of tears.

Five minutes later, after ignoring every traffic law known to man, I arrive at Ignite. As promised, Hadley and two other women are sitting with her on the curb at the front of the nightclub. I barely get my Tesla parked before I jump out of the car, running toward her. I don’t bother hiding the concern on my face when I get to the three friends.

“Are you all okay?” I ask as I round the car.

Hadley looks up at me through her long dark lashes, a heat flashing in her eyes that I only got a glimpse of last night. My cock instantly grows in my pants, straining against the zipper. Oh, Christ. She’s more wasted than I thought.

In a single breath, Hadley is standing and jumping into my arms, her legs winding tightly around my waist. Her lips are on mine before I can even respond.

Damn, she’s fast for being drunk.

I wrap my arms around her, accepting her tequila-flavored kisses. I groan into her mouth as she continues to grind her warmth against my already-hard cock. I gently pull away from her, breaking our kiss.

“Thanks for rescuing us,” she slurs, reminding me that we are still in front of the very busy club with her friends.

Just kissing her set my brain into such a frenzy, I almost let the situation get out of hand—and in public, no less.

I gently set her down on the ground. “You don’t need to thank me, a mhuirnín. I will keep you safe.”

We turn, facing Hadley’s friends as they cuddle one another on the sidewalk, their eyes trained on me.

“It’s lovely to meet you. I’m Connor.” I reach out both hands to assist them to their feet. “Let’s get you ladies home.”

I pull up to Ryan’s house, stepping out of the car to make sure she and Kat get into the house okay. Hadley calls after us.

“Bye, Ry! Bye, Pickle! I’ll talk to you tomorrow, babes!”

“Pickle?” I quirk a brow at Kat.

“I may be trashed, but I am not too trashed to take you out if you call me ‘Pickle’ again,” she huffs.

Ryan laughs. “Don’t worry. She likes the nickname.”

Opening her door, she turns back to me.
