We lie in each other’s arms for several moments in a peaceful silence before he speaks.

“Earlier, at the club…” He pauses. “You called me baby. It was the first time you did that outside of the bedroom.”

The warm smile on his face has my heart fluttering in my chest.

“You caught that, did you?” I smile at him.

“Indeed,” the grin on his face is telling. “I love hearing you say my name, but when you refer to me as that term of endearment...” The heat returns to his eyes. “You could have me on my knees in an instant, mo ghrá.”

Connor woke me at six a.m. to say good morning and goodbye. He had an eight a.m. meeting and had to leave way too early for me to function.

It’s eight a.m. now, and I feel so deliciously sore, my body aching with the memory of our lovemaking. Since I have nothing planned for today, it gives me a reason to spend the day relaxing and reading.

After a quick shower, I make my way to the kitchen and start a pot of coffee. That rich aroma of the nectar of the gods fills my senses. Mouth watering at the glorious scent, I walk to the cabinet where we keep the coffee mugs. I pulled out my favoriteWorld’s Best Bossmug that reminds me of a time when Ryan and I used to watchThe Officetogether religiously. A dull pain aches in my chest, and I sigh heavily.

I always thought Andy and I were endgame, like Jim and Pam, but it’s feeling more and more like our storyline is ending.

With my first sip of coffee, the bitter liquid from heaven fills my soul with enough joy to make it through the rest of the day. The moment I sit down, my phone pings with a text notification. Groaning, I grab my phone from the coffee table, placing a coaster down before setting my mug on top. My annoyance at being delayed in drinking the nectar of the gods quickly evaporates the moment I see who the message is from.

Connor:

Howya, a thaisce. Call me when you wake, gorgeous. Missing you already.

My heart skips a beat. Not bothering to respond, I press the call icon, listening to the ringing while I wait for him to answer. I pick up my mug and take another sip of my coffee.

“Mm,” I moan as he answers.

“Howya, beautif—” He pauses. “Do I need to come back and help you take care of that?”

I nearly spit the coffee out of my mouth, choking on the liquid gold that I was starting to swallow when he answered.

“Oh, my God. Of course you would answer then. I was taking a sip of coffee!”

I snort and laugh simultaneously, causing a low chuckle to escape his lips.

“If you want to, though, I won’t stop you,” I purr.

“As much as I wish I could, a thaisce, I left my briefcase there when I left this morning. Is there any chance you can come by my office at lunch and bring it with you? We can go to the Thai restaurant around the corner for lunch.”

“Of course, baby.” I smile at the memory of the conversation last night. The pet name just feels right with him. “Just text me the address. I’ll be there at one.”

“Thank you, mo stór!” I can hear the grin in his voice.

We disconnect the call, and a text notification indicates he’s already sent the address. With a smirk, I go back to my coffee and e-reader.

Thankfully, I’ve already showered, because by the time I look at the clock, it’s eleven-thirty, giving me just enough time to do my makeup and get dressed. I decide to leave my hair down, letting my natural waves fall loosely down my back, and opt fora lavender long-sleeved cropped cashmere sweater showing off the softness of my stomach, a pair of black skinny jeans that hug my curves, and my Steve Madden stilettos.

I grab my purse and Connor’s briefcase from my entryway and head to my car.

I pull up to the building a short time later and gasp, realizing where I am. Have we not discussed where he works? How am I just now realizing this?

Opening my car door, I climb out, standing on trembling legs. I walk toward the entrance with my phone in hand, texting Connor.

Hadley:

I’m walking into the lobby now.
