I smile at him and then lean a little farther over the bar. “When do you get off?”

His eyebrows rise even higher and those eyes twinkle. “Looking for a new partner for these hobbies of yours?”

“Maybe.”

He laughs and then nods. “I get off at two. If you’re interested, we can meet out back.”

I grin back and then push away from the bar top, feeling a little melancholy. I guess to continue my hobby, I’ll need to find someone else to do it with. Someone who has time for me.

Unlike Alec who is stretched thin between Killian and that other guy. Can’t even remember his name, but it was a fancy name. Unlike Jude, a name that people link to The Beatles. Although The Beatles were sexy. A hundred years ago.

Maybe I should go for an older guy, a silver fox, to hone my hobbies. Maybe the bartender is a bad idea. He looks quite young.

My gaze scans the crowd and lands on Alec once more. He’s talking animatedly with a fan, and I force myself to look away. I don’t want to see them flirting, don’t want to see that sly smile pull his lips up, see the way he’ll gingerly touch them in a way that almost seems too sensual.

I don’t want to see any of it.

And I’ll forget it all when I have the bartender’s dick down my throat.

Yes, that’s exactly what I’ll do.

“Where have you been?” Alec asks forever later. Time has been ticking slowly by and I feel like I’m crawling out of my skin. Up until now, Alec’s managed to ignore me completely. Between his time with Killian and his fans, and then playing another set on stage, I’ve gone unnoticed. It probably doesn’t help that I’ve stayed in the background, lingering like a creepy ghost. I want to leave, but Ollie is having a grand time, socializing with a group of guys and girls, making all of them swoon.

Must be nice to have such power. I can’t even get the guy I’m doing all my fun hobbies with to look my way. He’s distracted. Doing the hobbies with me must be super boring. Maybe he’s lost interest in them…in me.

During his second set, he turned his gaze toward me a few times, but never lingered long. Just touched momentarily and flitted away.

Alec is now behind me as I stand by the bar, chatting with the bartender whose name I’ve already forgotten while he makes drinks. But now that Alec is here, my attention shifts.

I can’t see anyone else, can’t feel them.

Just him. Only him.

“I’ve been here, making friends,” I reply on an exhale. I hate that he elicits this reaction in me. That I shake and tremble just from him being near.

God, what the fuck is wrong with me? I’ve never had this reaction to anyone else.

His hand softly brushes against my stomach, and I feel butterflies erupt inside of me. “I see the way he’s looking at you,” he grumbles in my ear as his body presses against my back, and I pull my lips between my teeth. No one can see what he’s doing to me. The crowd is thick and preoccupied, and we’re just one of many pressed against someone else.

“Well, at least someone is looking at me,” I bite back and hear Alec chuckle lowly.

“Jealous?”

“No,” I say. “Just finding someone who appreciates my skills and respects my hobbies.”

Alec chuckles again, his hand slowly pulling my shirt out of the front of my pants and running his cool fingertips across my skin. I let out a low huff, trying to get my wily dick under control. It’s been up and down all day. It’s exhausted. It doesn’t know what to do with itself. First, it thinks it’s getting some, and then it feels utter disappointment. I’m giving it whiplash. Dick-lash. Is that a thing?

Seems to be a thing.

“How about we get out of here?”

I glance back, trying like hell to put up some kind of a fight, to resist, but don’t manage to be very good at it. Instead, my eyes are drawn to his lips, to his neck. I just can’t look away from him.

“You sure you don’t want to go home with someone else? Seems like you drew quite a crowd.”

He laughs again, his hand sliding across my waistband. It dips beneath, brushing against my overheated skin, and I feel my breath sputter out of me.

“No. I’m sure. I want to go home withyou, Jude. Plus, I have a surprise waiting for you at home.”
