“And there will still be food in five minutes.”

A strangled sigh left my lips as I twisted around to catch the deep blues of his sleepy eyes. “Does it matter that I’m hungry?”

“No.” And then he tightened his grip again. I loved moments like this, moments where I could forget the outside world and just exist in these men’s arms. However, there wasn’t food here. “Love, you keep wiggling like that and the wait is going to be a lot longer than five minutes.” As if summoned, his cock hardened impossibly further, the tip slipping between my ass. Another little thrust and he’d be rubbing against my hole as I pleaded with him for more against what was best for me.

Deciding to shock Dmitri a little, I lowered my voice, modeling it after one of my favorite movies with a twist. “Please sir, I’m hungry. I want to eat.”

He went still behind me before I was flipped onto my back, Dmitri suddenly hovering over me, his bottom half pressed against mine. A wild grin split across his lips as he rocked his hips against mine, drawing a whine from my lips. “You keep saying things that are going to have me keep you in bed, Love.”

My eyes widened as I pressed my hands to his chest, fighting the urge to start something. “We have a corporation to take down or something, don’t we?”

“That can wait,” he growled, dipping his head lower to press his lips to mine. He savored my taste, before pulling back, searching my expression. I’m not sure what he thought he’d find but it was enough for him to sigh and roll off of me. “I hate that you’re right, Love.”

I slipped off the mattress before I got caught, searching for my pants and coming up empty. There were a few scattered shirts along the floor as I continued to look. “Food first. And coffee. Then more of this. You think Val has more of those donuts?” That shit nearly put me into a sugar coma but it was so fucking worth it and I hadn’t been able to properly enjoy it in my wallowing state.

A little voice rang through the hallway, both of us freezing. “Where’s Dmitri?” Paval asked.

I laughed as Dmitri scrambled from the bed and slipped on a pair of pants before throwing me mine. It was hilarious to watch this huge man terrified of being caught in the act by his son when I knew what he did for a living. I couldn’t help the chuckles falling from my lips as he unsuccessfully tried to smooth down his hair. For the first time, I was truly seeing a domesticated side of a man that I had already fallen for.

Moments like this could be my forever and I was pretty sure it would be me trying to hide my sugary sweets from Paval as he became a little older.Older?I was definitely banking on this relationship lasting a long time, possibly forever. It felt right. I wasn’t going to dwell on it.

Dmitri swung open the door just as little footsteps raced down the hallway, Paval falling into his father’s legs. The man picked up the little boy, rustling his hair before turning to face me, a sweet smile on Paval’s face. “Rhys, are you better?”

Even he noticed? Well, that was embarrassing. “Yeah, a little bit.”

Paval pumped his fist in the air and they headed toward the kitchen as I followed suit. I snatched one of the shirts off the floor before I left, feeling a little too exposed in a room full of men who would have my body heating up in all the wrong ways. It didn’t help though as I soon realized I had swiped Valentyn’sshirt, the hooded look in his eyes making me shoot to the other side of the kitchen so he couldn’t reach me.

“Good morning, babe,” Gianni mused as he handed me a fresh cup of coffee. I immediately took a healthy gulp while trying not to show how fucking hot it was as the liquid slipped down my throat. Covering up a cough, I swiped a piece of bacon and stuffed it into my mouth, Gianni right there licking up the juice that slipped down my chin.

I leaned into his chest, taking in his musk. “What’s the plan?”

“Not even going to eat breakfast first, sweetheart?” Valentyn twisted around from the stove. Dmitri was leaning beside him, Paval wiggling as he chomped on his own piece of bacon. When I didn’t answer, Valentyn realized I was done waiting. “We’ve discussed a few things on how to approach headquarters.” The talking around the specifics was no doubt for Paval’s little ears, Dmitri catching on as he quickly made a plate and then headed into the living room with him.

Valentyn pulled a pan off the stove, little sausage links rolling around across the metal as he set it on the counter. I wasted no time grabbing one of those as well before washing it down with coffee and then hissing as it burned my throat. “What have we learned?” I tried to hide the general tremor running through me but neither man in the kitchen was fooled. “What?”

“They want to speak with you personally seeing as how the program wasn’t received. They haven’t explicitly said that they know what happened but we have no idea what we’re walking into and I’m not just going to shove you into a building we know nothing about.” His jaw clenched and I could see that the lack of knowledge that came with this part of the job pained him.

Gianni stepped a little closer, grabbing my attention. “Even with Dmitri’s connections here in France, we’re not entirely sure who’s in charge of what, Rhys.”

I wasn’t satisfied with that but I trusted them to figure out what our next steps were. Silently, I grabbed another sausage link and then continued to nurse my coffee, mulling through my thoughts. I didn’t even notice that the kitchen had emptied until Paval was tugging on my pant leg, asking for me to join the others in the living room.

“Rhys, sit with us!”

“Yeah, I’m coming,” I said with a small smile. I poured another healthy serving of coffee knowing I’d regret it later before following Paval. He stuffed his hand in mine, bouncing with every step.

When we reached the couch, he pointed to the coffee table. “Daddy bought some but said they were for you. I can’t have any unless you say it’s okay.”

It took me a moment to realize that he was pointing at the overloaded strawberry danishes that had my mouth watering just looking at them. Perfectly flaky crust, fresh strawberries, and pureed jam?Yes, please.

“Paval, you can have one. The rest are mine.” I didn’t even care about the little growl that tore from my throat.

Chapter twelve

DMITRI

I waited patiently forthe buzz of breakfast to die down, going so far as to pawn Paval off on Gianni and Rhys before helping Valentyn with the dishes. We worked in silence for several minutes before I leaned against the counter and folded my arms across my chest. “Were you going to say anything to usbeforeyou told Rhys everything?” Valentyn was our protector through and through but sometimes his choice to withhold information got the better of him.

He didn’t answer right away and I ripped his arm from the sink, pressing him back against it to get him to look at me. I had no idea how much information he was holding from therest of us but I knew it always weighed him down, the weight of the world on his shoulders. For the first time in a while, I saw uncertainty in those beautiful blue eyes of his.
