KIERAN

Murder. Bloodshed. That’s all I was seeing, and I was struggling to keep myself from tearing the steering wheel off let alone staying in the right lane.

Someone had taken Vee.

“Fuck!” I hit the steering wheel for the umpteenth time.

I’d make a damn fucking art piece out of the lot of them. The streets would run with rivers of blood. A sea of detached heads. A throne atop a corpse mountain for my princess.

The ideas were plentiful, but I knew I was just struggling to grasp how much this was tearing me apart inside.

“Moretti,” I spat that wretched name out, vowing to end the entire family if any harm came to Vee.

This was an all out war, and they’d just declared it on my brothers and I. They had no idea of the hell they’d just summoned.

I’d tear our city apart to protect the woman who’d clawed her way into my heart, who’d not judged my artwork.

I’d seen her change in that moment when she’d told us to make Callum pay. She’d evolved, becoming something truly beautiful, although she was struggling to see her beauty in the darkness.

And now, now she was at risk of being blown away, like mist on the wind.

Pink mist…

Maybe that was how I’d handle those who dared to take her from us. Erase them into nothing but fine mist.

I’d blow the whole place up to save her.

No one would threaten her and live to tell the tale.

How I even reached Enzo and Zane back at the lodge was beyond me, I barely remembered driving, just my mind being an absolute chaotic mess, going over all the ways I’d kill those responsible rather than what could be happening to her.

“What’s happening?” I demanded as I stormed towards my brothers by the front of the lodge.

“Blockades are set up, but no one has reported a thing, so we have no idea where they’re going. I’m going to call our father, get the entire family in on this. He needs to know that the Moretti have made a move,” Zane said, his tone cold and calculating.

I smirked at the dead look in his eyes. It was his go-to when he knew his emotions would be too much, but there was a fire buried deep in those steely depths, something that no man ever wanted to bear witness to.

“You haven’t called yet?” I arched a brow as I moved my gaze to Enzo. His jaw was set, and he was tapping one finger on his folded arms, the movement so small yet so obvious to me.

He was ready to snap at a moment’s notice. We were all ticking time bombs, and I couldn’t help the way my mouth curved up even more.

Just how much Vee had wound her way into our very beings was incredible, affecting us all like this.

A true manipulator of men without even knowing it.

“I did, but he didn’t answer. Figured I’d get us altogether before I tried again. I’ve got the pilot readying the chopper for us, too.”

So my brother had a plan. Perfect. We’d get back to the city faster than those cockroaches could drive, but where would they be going?

Our father not answering was cause for concern, then again, had Zane double called? That was our signal that it was grave.

No, he would’ve wanted us together first, so we could all get our message across if we needed to. He would’ve moved right onto making other calls. Our father may run the family, but we had a lot of sway as well. We were the heirs to the leadership position.

Zane whipped out his phone as it sounded off, his expression neutral as he put it to his ear.

“Hey, dad, took you a minute to call back.”
