Pushing back from him, I smiled warmly. “All’s well that ends well.”

Looking over his shoulder, I met eyes with Branson, who immediately lowered his gaze. Standing up, I walked slowly over to him. He watched me warily, his hands fidgeting with his belt loops. Jumping up, I threw my arms around the large man and kissed his cheek. “Thank you for coming back and helping me. You saved me.”

He wrapped his arms around me, holding me up against him, and buried his nose in my hair. “I’m sorry I left you the way that I did. I’m so sorry you were hurt.”

“You’re here now and that means the world to me. You will always be my friend,” I said. He set me down and I hurried to hug Kieran, who wouldn’t look at me. “You were possessed just like I was. It’s not your fault. Thank you for protecting me.”

He pressed a kiss to my neck as he hugged me tightly. “You’re welcome, Em and Em.”

I snickered at the silly nickname and kissed his cheek.

When I turned, both Percival and Triston had their arms open. Chuckling, I stepped forward so I was exactly between them and they both hugged me from opposite sides.

“Thank you two for sticking around and sticking by me,” I whispered.

Triston purred while Percival made the purring rumbly dragon sound, their noises vibrating my body and helping me feel at ease.

“Can we go home?” Triston asked and immediately flinched. “Well, to the barn at least.”

“What? The barn?” Branson asked.

“Right, her house got blown up,” Caleb said and snapped his finger. Turning, he faced his father and asked, “Can I call Papa Emrys?”

Nico frowned. “Emrys? Why him?”

“He owns the hotel here,” Caleb said and pointed at the nearby hotel.

Nico’s eyes widened. “Oh, of course. Let him know the mages will reimburse the costs.”

Caleb turned and smiled at me. “We will pay for you all to stay at the hotel. So, don’t worry too much about your house for now.”

“Oh, you don’t have to do that,” I said quickly. “I can stay in the barn and?—”

“Just accept it. He’s incredibly stubborn and won’t allow you to decline,” Riddick said and draped an arm around Caleb’s shoulders. “Trust me, this guy is as stubborn as they get.”

Caleb pulled out his phone and said, “Give me two minutes.” With a wink, he turned to finish his phone call.

Chapter

Seventeen

The nicest thing about hotels was their everlasting hot water. I took the longest, hottest shower that I could, scrubbing my skin and hair at least four times, and yet I still felt like there was an oily coating from that ooze on my skin.

Once showered, I sat in the large armchair wearing the fluffy robe that the room came with.

I had turned the news on for two seconds before I realized that the scene from earlier was playingeverywhere.

Two sharp knocks drew my attention to the door. Hopefully, it was Riddick with some clothes for me. He’d said he would go buy some while I showered.

“Coming,” I called and walked to open it.

Caleb stood on the other side of the door, two big brown bags in his hand. “Hello. I come bearing gifts.”

Stepping back, I let him into the hotel room. “Gifts are always welcome.”

Although I knew he was tall and good looking, being so close to him, alone in the hotel room, had me really paying attention. He had a chiseled jaw, shaggy dark brown hair, slightly pointed ears at the top, and light blue eyes. It was like he was a perfectcombination of every race. Like he was a perfect specimen. And as he stood beside me, I felt an electricity, a spark, that had me sitting up and really taking notice of him.

He set the two bags on the four-person dining table the room came with and started pulling items out. The first few things were simple clothes, t-shirt and jeans, but then he pulled out a long, silver gown.
