“Men are idiots.”

“No, we aren’t!”

I got a shock that almost made me fall out of bed when my older brother opened the door and entered the room. With blue eyes, just like our father's, he scanned the place until he faced me.

“Dante!”

“Hi, twins!”

“What are you doing here?”

“How much of the conversation did you hear?” Perla crossed her arms and gave him a serious expression. “Eavesdropping is wrong, even for the future boss.”

He ran his hand through his black hair and threw it back, as if he didn't care about Perla's displeasure.

“Dante...” I asked a little more politely and with my heart in my mouth. I couldn't imagine what would happen if my father found out about my platonic feelings for a ghost, even if I didn't even know his name.

“Just you guys criticizing men. Who were they talking about?” He narrowed his eyes so he could observe us better.

“You.” Perla teased.

“Ha Ha.” He pursed his lips. “I bought you some chocolates that I saw on the street, but since you're not my biggest fans, I can eat them alone.”

“Hey! Wait a second.” We got out of bed together and threw ourselves at our brother, who raised his hands up, preventing us from grabbing the chocolates he was holding.

“Give it to me!” Perla stood on her tiptoes, pulling his arm.

“No, I'm an idiot.”

“Enough with the drama, Dante.”

“Me, dramatic?” He lowered his gaze and clenched his teeth as if he had become even more irritated.

“Yes!” I kept my posture. “You shouldn't even have heard our conversation.”

“I only heard one sentence.”

“Then give us this candy to make it up to us.”

“Make it up to you, huh?” He alternated his gaze between the two of us.

“Yes.” Perla puffed out her chest.

“You're the ones who are going to get fat.” He opened his hands, letting us take the chocolates.

“See, an idiot!”

“You love me!” He tried to take the chocolate back, but I turned around and my brother hugged me.

“Dante!” A thick and firm voice echoed in the corridor, and we moved away, adjusting our posture.

I saw my father leaving his office. He finished holstering a gun before looking at us.

“Yes, father,” my brother said.

“Let's go?”

He nodded.
