Maddie lets go of my hand and rushes over to Eli. She hops up onto his lap and starts talking animatedly.
“Look, Daddy, I got a new top.”
“You did? Let me see.” My heart is pounding; I can even feel it in my ears. Eli pulls it down to read the words written across it. He stills and just stares at her shirt. Finally, he looks up at me with a huge smile.
“Is this true?” I’m smiling so much that my cheeks hurt. I nod my head as he stands with Maddie on his hip. He comes over to me and puts his hand on my stomach.
“We’re going to have another pup?”
“Yes…is that okay?” I’m chewing my bottom lip even though I know he wants another child.
“Of course it’s okay! I want as many pups as you will give me, Quinn. And you, Princess! You’re going to be a big sister!”
“That’s what my top says!” We both laugh because she is such a literal kid sometimes.
“Yes, Princess, it does. I’m so happy to have my girls, and excited for the new little one.” He kisses the top of Maddie’s head first, and then places a chaste kiss on my lips.
“I love you, my lilac,” he murmurs.
“I love you, too.”
This relationship started off rocky, but I couldn’t be more grateful to have my daughter and my mate in my life.
