"Beyond happy, sunshine. Our family is growing I couldn't be happier. This is actually perfect. I wanted to surprise you this morning. I want to take you away for the night. We have been working so hard here, I think we need a night to ourselves. I talked to Isaac. He is going to cover me for the day, and you and I are going away."
Isaac is the new beta to the pack, seeing as the former leadership got taken away by Thorn. Isaac has been a huge help. He has just as much, if not more, experience with this pack, and has been invaluable when it comes to understanding the pack undertones. Liam and I both left around eighteen, so adult dynamics are a bit different, and Isaac has a really good handle on the whole thing.
"Okay!"
"I already packed for us, so if you're ready, we can head out as soon as I finish the e-mail I was working on."
"I want to change into something else first."
"Okay, I will meet you by the door in fifteen. Sound good?"
"Yep!"
I love surprises! I race back upstairs to throw on a pair of jeans and a nice long-sleeved shirt. I make it back downstairs in record time. As I get closer to them, Liam is just finishing up talking to Isaac.
"Hey Paige. I hear congratulations are in order."
I can't keep the smile off my face as I walk into Liam's outstretched arms.
"Thank you. We're really excited." I look up into Liam's eyes and thank Seluna for sending him to me.
"Well, you guys have fun. Don't worry about anything here. We will be ok for one day. Go rest. You deserve it."
Liam ushers me outside and helps me into the truck. Before we get off pack land, though, Liam takes a turn down a road not too far away from the pack house. Coming to the end of it, there is a little log cabin with construction machinery all around. Some of the construction guys look over at us, but no one seems to be concerned that we are here.
"What's going on, Liam? Did we need to see someone before we leave?"
He pulls my hand over and kisses the top of it. "No, sunshine, I just wanted to show you where we will raise our family."
Looking back out the windshield, I take it all in again. This used to be Old Larry's place.
"The building's a little run down, but I hired some guys to fix it up and put an addition onto it. When we get back, you will have a lot of decisions to make on the flooring and paint colors. The design I had drawn up includes a new nursery for our little one."
I'm overwhelmed with emotion as I look at it all. "You did this for me?"
"Of course I did. I told you, you mean the world to me."
"Thank you, Liam."
"Of course."
We spend a couple more minutes looking at the place, talking about what it will look like, and I can't wait to see it come to life. To see our family grow in it.
The surprise is apparently an hour away. Liam pulls up to a lovely cottage sitting on a large lake. It's right out of some cottager magazine. Finally getting inside, I can see it's one big room with a kitchenette and bed with a bathroom off to the side. Outside, there is a deck with a hot tub attached to it.
"This place is beautiful, Liam!"
He walks up behind me and warps his arm around my waist. "You're beautiful."
He lightly kisses my neck, eliciting a shiver from my body. Turning around in his arms, I wrap my arms around his neck.
"I have been waiting anxiously to have you all to myself. I don't want to do life without you. You brought more sun to my life than I ever thought possible. Will you be mine forever, my sunshine? Will you let me mark you and show everyone that I am a taken man?"
A wave of desire passes through my body at his words.
"Yes, please take me, Liam. Make me yours, and you mine. I don't ever want to imagine my life without you."
He leans down, placing soft kisses on my lips and neck.
