Skinner waved his hand toward the couch.

Finn had to sit back down, and he only did so because Skinner had information he needed.

“Do you love him?” Skinner repeated.

“Yes, I love him. So does Michael and I know that he has strong feelings for us as well.”

“If you’re not serious about him, then let him go. I can only do so much and what I can offer is only in friendship. He is running scared, but I would rather see him heartbroken now than wrecked later.”

“He’s mine. He will not be going anywhere.”

“And Michael? You’ve discussed this with him? You know what you’re getting into with two partners?”

“Michael and I are on the same page. We were waiting for Jackson and you to get back from your last job before we spoke to him. I didn’t get a chance last night and he was gone this morning.” It grated on his nerves to have to explain himself. At least to anyone other than his boys. “I might not know exactly what having two partners will mean for any of us, but I do know that’s it right.”

Skinner nodded. “I won’t warn you that if you fuck up and hurt him, I’ll kick your ass or some nonsense like that.”

Finn nodded. It didn’t seem like Skinner’s style. Although he might prepare himself for Jackson’s other friends. They were all a little crazy, from what he’d heard.

Skinner rose and straightened the lapels of his suit. His voice was deathly quiet. “You’d never see me or the bullet that went through your right eye.”

Finn stared at Skinner in horror. Skinner didn’t even crack a smile. He almost missed the small device that Skinner tossed him. He fumbled but looked down at the screen to see a map and a green blinking light.

“I might have put a tracking device under the seat of his bike. You can still catch him before he gets too far.”

Who the fuck were these people and why did Skinner have a fucking tracking device handy? Finn looked up, but the other man was already gone. Finn hadn’t even heard the door open or close. Maybe he was out of his depth with this group but if Jackson was a part of them, then Finn would adapt. Marines across the world had been adapting to situations since the branch was formed. Finn was Marine to his core, and he wouldn’t be scared away from threats or anything else Jackson’s friends threw at him.

Chapter Six

Michael

“Well, well, well, look at what the cat dragged in. And what time did you get home?”

Michael glared at his youngest brother.

“Leave him alone, James,” Scott, the middle brother and James’s twin, said without lifting his gaze from the book he was reading. “You know he just came in and showered.”

Scott might sound like he was being helpful, but Michael knew that Scott was adding his own two cents in with his comments. They were more alike than most people gave the twins credit for. Sure, Scott looked the typical nerdy bookworm, but he had a smart mouth and a wicked sense of humor.

“Did you eat?” Michael asked instead of responding to either twin. He opened the fridge to see that all the food Michael had prepared for the week was still neatly packed up.

“We would have starved if we waited for you. We’re growing boys,” James quipped.

“He ordered a pizza.” Again, Scott continued to read as he ratted out his twin.

With a sigh, Michael closed the fridge. “There is food. All you had to do was put it in the microwave.”

“It’s okay. I had a coupon.”

That wasn’t the point and James knew it.

“You’re supposed to be saving your money for college. Registration will be here before you know it,” Michael reminded the twins. If James ordered a pizza, then Scott would have eaten a whole pie himself, That was at least two pizzas, plus whatever extras they got. James had no control over himself.

The twins exchanged a look and dread filled Michael. Couldn’t he catch a break? He was still upset that Jackson had been gone when he’d woken up. He hated waking up alone, and even though Finn had been there, Michael had still missed his other partner.

He’d tried to hide the hurt from Master Finn, but the older man had known. Finn had turned into Daddy Finn, and he’d held Michael as Michael couldn’t hold back his tears. Why was everything always so hard? Couldn’t Michael get anything he wanted, ever?

As his brothers were too quiet, Michael pulled out a chair and sat across from them. “What’s going on?”
