He’d tried to explain over and over, but his men just didn’t get it. Jackson looked proud every time Michael’s actions were brought up. Daddy Finn, while more sympathetic, still told Michael that he hadn’t done anything wrong.

Michael just couldn’t agree.

Approaching the playroom, Michael could hear others talking. He stopped. “You said no one else was here!”

“I lied,” Jackson told him without remorse.

Michael tried to dig his heels in, but Jackson simply turned toward him before lifting Michael into his arms.

“What are you doing!” Michael tried to squirm out of Jackson’s arms.

“I’m doing this for your own good.” Jackson carried Michael toward the playroom.

The array of emotions that hit him ranged from disbelief to betrayal. He had trusted Jackson. Jackson knew how much Michael struggled-

“Surprise!”

Michael’s head snapped up.

The playroom had been completely transformed into a magical little birthday party. All his favorite people stood close together, smiling at him.

“My birthday isn’t until next weekend,” he said stupidly.

“Since we’ll be spending next weekend at the cabin, this is a party for you to celebrate with your friends,” Daddy Finn explained as he stepped from the crowd. His eyes were soft as he cupped Michael’s face. “I thought it might be easier to return if you had some support.”

Yeah, Michael could see that. All his friends were there. Jayme, Hayley, Marco, Sammy, Caleb, Avery, and Mitch. With their Daddies close by. Plus, several of Michael’s little and pup friends had come as well. Spotting the twins, his eyes grew wide—even his brothers were at the club. They’d never been inside, since they weren’t technically old enough. “My brothers.”

“Club is closed. This is a private party. And no alcohol is being served. I think it’s fine for your brothers to be here this once.”

Michael nodded, too overwhelmed to speak.

“How would I go about getting an invitation to this club anyway?” James asked, strutting up to them.

“You can’t,” Finn said shortly. “I approve all applications and I know how old you are.”

James squinted. “I’m going to love California. Not so many bossy men.”

Scott snorted before pushing his brother’s arm. “You do realize that two of the men here work at the University and know my professor. Do you really want to throw down that challenge?”

Byron nodded. “I have some friends in the area. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind keeping an eye out—”

“No!” James nearly shouted. “I’m being good. Best behavior. I swear.”

Michael shook his head. His brother was never going to learn. James let his mouth get him in trouble way too often. Michael couldn’t wait for the day that James met the person that could keep up with him. Also, he’d totally have to talk to Byron later. His brothers did need someone to look out for them.

“Are you going to put him down so we can hug him or what?” Avery asked with a huff.

Jackson smiled at him. “Am I putting you down, baby, or is it back to the couch? Whatever you want to do.”

He rolled his eyes. Michael couldn’t believe that his men had managed to do all this without him realizing what was going on. He had been spending a lot of time on the couch, but still. “Put me down.”

Instead of complying, Jackson kissed him. Hard. With lots of tongue. It was wonderful. Then his feet didn’t even hit the ground as Michael found himself in Daddy Finn’s arms.

“This is okay, right?” Daddy asked quietly. “When Jackson approached me with this idea, I thought it was a good one, but if you’re at all uncomfortable, we can move the party somewhere else.”

“I’m okay, Daddy,” Michael said. “But I’ll let you know if I need a break or want to leave. This doesn’t even look like the same playroom.” Michael couldn’t believe it. Even the bar top seemed different.

“I never want you to feel bad coming in here. This is supposed to be a safe place. You weren’t the only one affected that night. Avery and Caleb were here too. We managed to repaint, move things around, get new furniture. A calm and safe place for the most precious boys in the world.”
