Okay, grumpy asshole, I get it, this is nothing more than a deal for you. I nod. “I’ll be here.”

“Stay out of my shit and I’ll be back in a couple of hours,” he mutters, his accent shining through his deep, hoarse voice. Grabbing his wallet and keys from his nightstand, he hesitates for a second as our eyes meet. “Okay?” He pauses, and it looks like he wants to lean down and kiss my lips, instead he shakes his head and practically bolts out the door. I get up and linger in the hallway, waiting till I hear the sound of his electric door closing downstairs and take a deep breath. I’m going to make him regret winning me.

Summer

I couldn’t get out there fast enough. One of my tech guys traced her money and found out the fucker’s name. What the hell was she doing with that asshole? I mean, I’m grateful to the maggot for bringing her into my path. I know who he is, he’s been trying to open up more clubs in Hongdae to fuck over the tourists who party there by having them pay way too much for a table. I nod to the concierge when I head outside and get in my car, hitting the phone button on the steering wheel in one go. Jay is the first one to join the call while the gate opens. The man grew up in Canada during his teenage years and the name stuck. “What would you say if I told you I want to go after the little shit who’s been trying to expand his territory in the party streets with his asshole politician father?”

It’s quiet on the other end. “I thought you’d never ask. I’m done with the tiny fuck and his antics,” Jay says, his deep voice filling my car.

“Who’s done with who?” the youngest of our group chimes in. Jin-yeong is always in for a fight, but this is mine. She’s mine now, and I’ll make sure no one can hurt what belongs to me.

“Was there a mission behind this quest?” the oldest asks. Chris is the calm one, while I’m one insult away from explosion.

“Is it because of the girl you abducted?” Taemin laughs.

The only one who’s quiet is Han, the bastard worries too much, me being one of the people he’s concerned about the most. “No,” I grit out while I speed down the road to get to our office near the river. One of the biggest buildings on the street is a front for our off the book endeavors, and also filled with our legitimate operations. We own this city, the politicians, and the richest families all fear us. “I’m thirty minutes out,” I tell them. They give me their ETA and end the call, except for Han who stays on the line. “What?” I bite out while I wait for a red stop sign, tapping my fingers on the steering wheel of my Maybach, regretting I changed my outfit before heading out. I can’t smell her on me anymore.

“What? Spit it out, Han, you know I can’t deal with your silent treatment,” I repeat.

“Are you sure she’s worth it?” he asks, totally calm while I’m the opposite. My hands are aching to end the fucker who put her in this position.

“Nobody touches what’s mine, and this includes her now. I won her fair and square.”

I can picture him rolling his eyes. “I know, your brother told me,” he says, his voice having an edge to it. The man always worries about me, maybe because he’s the one who stabbed me in the back to stop me from killing Taemin when we were having an argument. I changed from that volatile psychopath to the restrained one I am right now, but he knows I’m one explosion away from destruction.

“Why are you talking to my brother?” I ask all agitated, focusing on the road ahead.

“He knows you and what happens when you set your eyes on one single thing. You either make it yours or destroy it in the process.”

“Don’t you think that’s a little harsh?” I chuckle, but the guy has a point. “I don’t know, okay? What I do know is I can’t have a guy like him sniffing around in my, and by extension, our business.”

“I know,” he mutters.

“Let me do the worrying.” I laugh, ending the call while driving into the underground parking structure of our office. He’s already waiting for me there, leaning against his blue Porsche.

I turn the ignition off and slam my car door shut. He brushes his bleached blond hair back behind his ears and locks eyes with me. “I’ll ask again, is she worth it?”

I place my hand on his shoulder and shake him a little. “From what I’ve already tasted.” I stare into his eyes. “Yes. Fuck knows, maybe I’ll only keep her for a month, but we’ll see.”

He rolls his eyes at me while I follow him to the elevator. “I’ll take your word for it, or not, you tend to lie when it comes to shit like this. And by shit, I mean women.”

“Don’t worry so much.” I chuckle, already going over all the scenarios I can enact with her in my mind.

“I have to,” he says while I lean against the cold glass of the elevator taking us up to the top floor only meant for us. “We all have to, with you and your antics down South. That’s why I pushed up the meeting,” he mutters under his breath.

“My antics?” I laugh, trying to wrack my mind, not knowing what he’s talking about.

“You put a pen through the man’s son’s hand when he didn’t want to sign the shipping contract.”

I start to laugh, remembering now. I admit, sometimes I can get a little carried away and I lose sight of what is most important. Power and money. I shove my hands in my pockets. “He signed in the end, didn’t he?”

After typing in the passcode and scanning his eye, Han kicks the door to our office open. “That’s beside the point, all the papers were stained red.”

“You are exaggerating.” I grin, nodding to all the guys already sitting around the table.

“Why did we have to have a meeting like this, when we could have done this over the phone?” the youngest whines, laying his head on the table. He always acts out. Trying to tell people he’s the fluffiest of us, when in fact, I saw him beat a guy to a pulp in one of our clubs for insulting our oldest member. Our gazes cross and he smirks, he likes I’m the problem child for once. The oldest pushes his chair back and knocks with his knuckles on the table.

“We are gathered here,” Chris begins, his dark eyes locked on mine.
