I kept looking around and a whole new type of fear took root. “Where are they?”

Crew, Kellan, and Rhett weren’t there.

“Hazel—”

“They left me?” I practically screeched the words, my heart rate shooting through the roof as another heat cramp gripped me. Panic sliced through my chest, flaying me open and exposing raw nerves. “Why did they leave?”

“They didn’t—fuck.” Jude twisted. “Rhett!”

The door to the bathroom opened so fast it slammed into the wall with a heavy thud. Rhett stumbled out of the bathroom in a pair of boxer-briefs and took in the scene with big eyes. “What happened?”

I dove into Jude’s lap, but reached for Rhett. I needed both of them, their scents, twisting around me.

Why had my alphas left? Was Jude the only one who really wanted to be here? Or did he just draw the short straw?

“Ah, fuck, dove,” Rhett muttered, climbing into the nest. Once he was situated next to Jude, he plucked me out of the beta’s arms. “None of us left you.”

Jude huffed. “And I definitely didn’t draw the short straw. If anything, I won the prize of staying while the others handled some stuff.”

“I didn’t mean to say that out loud,” I whispered, my fingers laced with Jude’s as my head rested on the warmth of Rhett’s bare chest.

“It was our fault for leaving,” Rhett replied, sounding downright pissed at himself. “I’m sorry, love. Forgive us—we’ve never gone through a heat cycle with an omega.”

I sniffled and lifted my head. “Never?”

He shook his head. “Never.”

I liked that I was their first.

And hopefully last.

“Look at me, love,” Rhett commanded, turning me to face him. When he had my attention, he continued. “You’ve been asleep for hours. Kellan went downstairs to grab some snacks for when you woke. Crew went downstairs to grab a quick shower, and I was in the bathroom. None of us were leaving you.”

“Not even close,” Jude reiterated. “We were just grabbing supplies.”

I winced as another low pain registered in my belly. “Okay.”

“Hurting, love?” Rhett’s voice dropped into a rasp as he splayed his fingers over my stomach.

I nodded. “Not like before, but it’s still there.”

Rhett pressed his forehead to mine. “You’re warm again. Your heat is spiking…”

Jude’s fingers tensed. “Want me to get Crew?”

My lashes fluttered as I met the dove gray of Rhett’s gaze. Slowly, I shook my head.

His full mouth curved into a soft smile right before he leaned in and brushed his lips over mine.

I whimpered into his kiss, shifting my legs to straddle him as my arms wrapped around his shoulders. He wasn’t as big as Crew or as massive as Kellan, but Rhett was built with lithe muscles. He was all sleek edges, like a panther.

He kissed me like he had all the time in the world, soft and languid strokes of his tongue as he licked into my mouth.

The mattress dipped as Jude moved into position behind me, one steadying hand on my hip as he used the other to sweep the curtain of my hair aside. He kissed across the slope of my shoulder, up the side of my throat and to my jaw.

Rhett inhaled and turned his head slightly, silently inviting Jude into our kiss.

The feel of Jude’s slick tongue joining ours made my toes curl. My head dropped back, and both of them attacked the exposed column of my neck, laving open-mouthed kisses and occasionally kissing each other.
