Kellan let out a rumble and Rhett shook his head. “Beg to differ, dove. If you don’t wish to discuss it now, then that’s perfectly acceptable. Though it would help to know what triggered the response.”

Everyone’s attention lingered on me, and I knew they wouldn’t move until I gave some sort of explanation.

I stared at my plate until the blob of eggs started to resemble a cartoon cat. “It was what you said. About me whining and begging.” Bitterness flooded my mouth. “I didn’t really understand much about whining and the sounds omegas made when they get upset.”

Crew’s hand tightened. “It’s a way for an omega to express something’s wrong, a sign that she needs something. It’s an alpha’s job to figure out what it is and how to meet that need.”

I nodded. “Yeah, well, tell that to Donovan. He said I did it to be manipulative. Would punish me for it. He’d say I was trying to tempt him.”

As I spoke, my three alphas started to growl until the sounds echoed off the room. But it was the sharp crash of glass against the wall that made me jerk and look up.

Jude shot me a sheepish look. “Sorry, babe. I just… fuck. I should’ve pulled the plug sooner and gotten you the fuck out of there.”

“We all should’ve,” Crew snapped.

“Stop,” I pleaded. “You made the best decision with the info you had, especially if Donovan is a bigger criminal than any of you thought.”

“Did he ever say anything to you?” Kellan asked.

I shook my head. “I was kept away from almost everyone. Only his wives and hand-selected beta guards had access to me. If anything, Logan is the one you should speak to.” My chest ached. “He was the one the Shepherds always wanted around. If they let anything slip, it was probably around him.”

“Silas should actually have an update on Logan when he gets here with Oakley,” Crew admitted. “I didn’t want to say anything and get your hopes up, baby.”

“I really need to make sure Logan’s okay,” I whispered. “The things they did to him…” I glanced across the table at Jude, who looked like he was trying to swallow glass.

“I only heard stories,” Jude confessed. “You and Logan were kept isolated.”

“Omegas are property of their alphas,” I said furiously, parroting a line Donovan was fond of.

“Fuck that,” Kellan spat. “Omegas are people.”

I flashed him a grateful smile. “Not to everyone, but I’m glad they are to my pack.” The last two words fell effortlessly from my mouth.

Everyone moved, but Crew’s touch was on me first, grabbing me from my chair and dragging me onto his lap. I awkwardly straddled him, my legs dangling above the ground.

“Say it again,” he demanded, his eyes bright and intense.

I traced the hard line of his jaw under a layer of stubble. “You’re my pack.”

“Fuck, yeah, we are,” he breathed before claiming my lips in a brutal kiss.

When I came up for air, dizzy and breathless, the others were hovering and leaned in for their own kisses.

Rhett grabbed his protein shake. “I need to call my parents.”

“Good idea,” Crew said, not letting me up.

“Why is he calling his parents?” I asked, confused, as Rhett left the room.

“One of Rhett’s dads is pretty high up in Congress and has connections to OS. He’s going to ask his dad to fast-track our pack application,” Jude explained.

“Oh,” I murmured, a slow smile creeping across my face as excitement fluttered in my belly.

“You’re going to be ours,” Crew vowed, cuddling me against his chest and kissing the top of my head.

Kellan and Jude bracketed each side of us, and I forgot about breakfast while my pack fed my soul.
