It didn’t matter if I held them accountable or not. They already blamed themselves.

There wasn’t a damn thing I could do about that, so I chose to focus on something I could control.

I drew in a deep breath. “Okay. So, how do we convince OS you’re my pack?”

Butterflies with iron-tipped wings slashed through my stomach the next morning as I awaited the visit from Omega Services.

At some point, I’d fallen asleep on Crew’s lap and woken up with Kellan curled around me in my bed. Across from me, Rhett and Jude slept in the same bed. Crew was absent, but then returned with breakfast and Calla, both of which I was eternally grateful for.

As soon as Kellan left my bed, with a gentle kiss to my temple, Calla moved in for a cautious hug. Before I could even apologize to my bestie, she beat me to it, profusely begging for forgiveness at encroaching in my omega space.

Blushing, I ducked my head. “It’s a hospital bed, Cal.”

“It’s your nest, and I knew better than to throw my scent all over it. Hence why today I showered with all the descenter I could,” she countered, her tone firm if not a little unsure. “But seriously, as soon as you’re cleared to go home, the nest at Crew’s place will make you forget all about this.”

My gaze shot to Crew, casually sipping on a cup of coffee from the cafeteria. He gave me a one-shouldered shrug. “It came with the house.”

Jude let out a loud laugh, and even Rhett cracked a smile while Calla cackled. Clearly all of them were in on some joke I wasn’t part of.

Kellan exited the bathroom and shot Calla a look upon finding her sitting on my bed with me. I couldn’t lie, there was a part of me that wanted to shove my bestie off the bed so Kellan could wrap me up in those massive, tattooed arms of his.

“How many tattoos do you have?” I blurted out, watching Kellan inhale a sausage and egg sandwich.

He chewed twice and swallowed. “No clue. I lost track in the fifties, I think.”

My jaw dropped a little. How did someone just forget they had a needle stabbing them? At what point did that become normal?

Kellan winked at me. “I promise, if you’re a good girl, I’ll let you see all of them later.”

Heat bloomed across my cheeks, spreading down my neck as Calla made a gagging sound.

“Please remember you’re my brother’s pack, which means you’re all basically my brothers,” she stressed, eyeing each of them.

“Then be glad you weren’t in here when Jude was talking about Rhett’s cake-cock,” Kellan replied with a smug little smirk.

Calla slapped her hands over her ears, and I turned to Jude and Rhett, expecting them to be embarrassed or pissed off or something, but they both took Kellan’s dig without comment.

Jude caught me staring. “You’ll get used to Kellan.”

“Yes,” Rhett added, his tone dry, “he’s rather like a fungus. Eventually he just grows on you. Though, the smell never quite goes away.”

Kellan let out a playful growl as Crew’s lips pulled into a grin, giving me a glimpse of the boy I used to know. God, he had a great smile. One that reached his eyes and softened his jagged edges.

“I like Kellan’s smell,” I announced, feeling brave with how relaxed the people in the room were.

Kellan hooted and stood up like I’d just presented him with a trophy declaring him the Ultimate Alpha.

Crew was quick to slam a fist into his gut, a blow that probably would’ve knocked down a smaller man. Kellan just grunted and flashed Crew a smirk. “Don’t hate the player, bro.”

“Sit the fuck down,” Crew groused, barely hiding a smile as he swatted at Kellan again.

Kellan sidestepped the blow and hip-checked Jude’s bed.

Rhett shoved him away with a snarl. “Stop before you hurt someone.” He wrapped a protective arm around Jude, who looked like he was just humoring the alpha.
