She moaned loudly, her panting cries getting louder as she drew closer to another orgasm. Her clit swelled further under his fingers and then she moaned his name, her body jerking hard.

Keeping his fingers pressed to her clit as she soared in mindless bliss, he roared loudly, then let his fangs elongate and struck her throat, sinking them deep into her flesh and marking her as his mate. He pulled his fangs gently from her flesh, scored his tongue, and once his fangs had receded, he swiped his blood along the marks to ensure they didn’t heal entirely, but scarred and remained forever.

“I think,” she said, her voice a low rasp, “that you made me nearly deaf from that roar.”

“Couldn’t help it,” he said. “I’m just that happy to have you in my life.”

He eased her to the mattress and joined her, pulling her close so her head rested on his chest.

“I’m happy too, even if I don’t have a cat roaring every time I come.”

He laughed and hugged her, kissing the top of her head.

She snuggled against him with a happy sigh, and in a moment, she was asleep, her breath fanning his chest and her hand curled over his shoulder.

He hadn’t slept a wink on the couch, too keyed up with his sexy sweetheart in the next room, but now? He was going to fucking sleep like the dead, because he was one contented saber. He had his mate in his arms, the scent of their combined pleasure saturating everything, and the future was looking pretty damn sweet.

Chapter Eight

Alanah hadn’t wanted to leave the suite, because her mate was too addictive for his own good. He’d woken her up with his talented tongue and driven her wild in the shower, and then for good measure, he’d taken her against the door when they were getting ready to leave for lunch.

“You’re irresistible,” he said, nipping her ear lobe as the elevator headed to the lobby.

“I think you are too.” She sighed happily. She’d slept well as her body finished healing, and now she felt back to normal.

The little bird chirped on her forearm that she held slightly away from her body.

“What’s his deal?” Ronan asked.

“He was just commenting on how strange elevators are.”

He snorted. “I’m kind of surprised he doesn’t want to stay in the room.”

“You mean just now or like forever?”

“Forever. He’d have food and shelter, plus he really seems to care for you.”

She leaned against Ronan and looked at the little bird, his blue feathers a pretty pastel shade. “If I asked him to, he would I’m sure, but he belongs outside.”

“He’ll be okay by himself?”

“With his wing fixed, he can go home to his friends and family.”

He hummed.

They reached the lobby and walked out through the foyer, skirting around the side of the building toward the forest. She smiled at the bird and whispered, “Go have a great life my friend.”

With a happy chirp telling her to do the same, he took flight, soaring into the air, wheeling in a circle overhead, and then straightening toward the trees. When he disappeared into the thick greenery, she turned to Ronan for a hug and they walked back inside.

“Are you sad?” he asked.

“No. Well, a little, he was a cutie, and he fought so hard to get to me when I was in prison and brought the squirrels with him to bring me food. If you hadn’t shown up when you did, his intervention probably would have saved my life.”

“I’m glad he was so determined to help you.”

When they reached the hotel’s restaurant, they stopped at the empty hostess stand and scanned the interior, finding a large table with the sabers and their mates plus Ronan’s brother and sister. Serena waved at Alanah and gestured to the two empty chairs across from her and Galen.

Serena stood and kissed Alanah’s cheek, giving her a tight hug.
