“I don’t know, maybe. I know nothing about you.” He paused and made sure he had my attention. “I’d like to get to know you. You’re quite the mystery, Miss Aubrey.”

“Does that work on all the girls?” I tried to pull away a little, but he held me tightly. He leaned in so I could feel his breath again.

“Not all of them.” He said with smugness. I practically melted. It was clear it was working on me. I had to find a way to leave this situation before I went home with this man and made him do dirty things to me. I spotted Callie coming back in. I pulled away, and this time he let me.

“We’ve got to head out. You should probably go find your friends and that beautiful sex friend of yours. She looked like a good time.”

He caught the snark in my voice, I’m sure of it. I walked back to the table. I wasn’t sure if he was following me until he grabbed my arm lightly and I turned around into him.

“Are you sure you have to leave? I can buy you another drink, and we can do the getting-to-know-each-other thing.” His fingers were tenderly rubbing over my knuckles.

I quirked my head to the side. “People don’t say no to you often, do they?”

“Honestly, not usually,” he smiled shyly.

I leaned in like I was going to kiss him and whispered. “I’ll see you tomorrow morning, Mr. Lincoln.”

I pulled away, and he visibly shook as if he was removing the chill I had just given him. I turned and linked my arm with Callie’s and walked out the door.

CHAPTER ELEVEN

Lincoln

How the hell does she do that? I’ve never had a woman turn me on and fuck my head up so much without trying. Usually, that’s my job. I shook myself out of my stupor and realized she was walking out the door. I know I will see her tomorrow, but I have to try again.

What the hell is wrong with me? I don’t chase girls. I don’t have to chase girls. She’s got me wrapped around her pinky and I need to flip the script. I rushed to the door and stepped out just before it closed behind her.

“You guys need a ride?” I asked.

“I think we will manage; we called a ride share. It will be here in a minute. Plus, I wouldn’t want to take you away from all the fun you’re about to have.”

“Well, I was going to head home since you’re leaving me. No reason to stay now.”

She started laughing uncontrollably. It was adorable. She thanked me for the dance. Then the ride share car pulled up. I stepped forward and opened the door for them. Callie slid in first.

“Thank you, you are such a gentleman,” Aubrey said as she rested her hand on my bicep.

I pulled her toward me a little. “I wish I weren’t right at this moment. I wish there was something I could do to make you stay.”

My smugness was getting gross; even I have to admit that. I’m trying way too hard. I’ve never wanted to be in someone’s presence this bad before; again, what is wrong with me?

She kept smiling at me. “Have an amazing night, Lincoln.”

She pulled away and got into the car. I shut the door and watched them pull away. I can’t believe she left without even trying to kiss me. I could still smell her shampoo. It smelled like sweet strawberries mixed with something else.

I headed back into the bar to catch up with my friends, Connor and Elijah. They were trashed, so I knew I would be driving both of their drunk asses home. Although the way Connor was flirting with Kayla, he was probably going home with her. Elijah though, I’d definitely be worriedabout him getting home safe. He’s the closest thing I have to a best friend if you can call it that.

Elijah is an up-and-coming rockstar. He is the lead vocalist in his brother’s band, Reckless Riders, and they’re home on break from touring.

Elijah doesn’t drink when he’s on tour because he is a mess after just two drinks, so he always tries to keep his wits about him, which I guess is somewhat responsible. When he is home though, he gets like this. It probably could be seen as a problem, but he says he is safe. He doesn’t drive, and he clearly abstains when needed.

Elijah started tripping over himself so I decided it was time to go. I paid my tab and helped him out of the bar's back door and into my car. He continued singing and playing air guitar with the windows down. I offered to walk him into his apartment because it has a shit ton of stairs, but he declined. I waited to leave until I saw the light pop on through his window. Despite my calloused image, I can be nice sometimes.

On the drive home, I found myself smiling like a dork. I knew exactly what and who I would be dreaming about tonight.

I woke up with the biggest erection I’ve ever had, coupled with a pounding headache. I made my way into the kitchen and made myself a cup of coffee. My mind was swirling with the events of last night as I stood at the counter looking out the window. I still couldn't believe she didn’t come home with me; I guess there was a first time for everything.

All I could think about before I fell asleep last night was fucking Aubrey. I was dying to know what it would feel like to be inside her. I needed to know what she would sound like when she—Fuck!
