After we ate, Aubrey and I went to shower, separately, unfortunately. Mom and Pops went out because they were meeting friends today while Aubrey and I worked at The Music Box.
I got out of the shower and sent a text telling her I was ready. A few minutes later I heard a knock at the door, so I opened it figuring it was her.
“Hey, Linky!”
My eyes went wide when I saw it was Kayla standing in front of me. “Um, hey.” I rubbed the back of my neck to try to hold in my discomfort. “What’s up? Is everything okay?”
She looked confused. “Yes, silly, everything’s fine. I just wanted to invite you to dinner with a few of the teachers tonight so we can talk about the play. We all wanted to start the week strong and have everything figured out before Monday.”
I gave her a confused look. “Shouldn’t that have been something I planned as the director?”
She looked shy and shrugged. “I don’t know; I was just trying to help, I guess.”
“Oh… I mean…thank you, I guess,” I was still very confused. “I don’t really need any help though honestly.”
She gave me a pushy look.
“Since it’s already planned, I’ll have to check with Aubrey. I’m not sure what she’s doing tonight.”
“I think you should go; sounds important.”
I didn’t realize it, but Aubrey had walked up behind Kayla. Kayla turned to look at her. Aubrey gave me a genuine smile. I think she really meant it.
“It sounds like it will be fun; enjoy time out of school with everyone,” Aubrey added.
Kayla sneered. “Oh, hi, Audrey. Are you okay? You look a bit tired.”
Kayla meant it as an insult, but Aubrey didn’t miss a beat. She rolled her eyes at Kayla and walked up next to me to put her arm around my waist. It was really sexy seeing her being territorial.
“It’s Aubrey, and yeah, you could say that we are both a bit tired. We had a bit of a long night.”
Kayla’s eyes widened. Aubrey smiled up at me, and I couldn’t help but chuckle when I looked down at her.
“You think I should go? What are you going to do tonight? Do you want to come with me? You will meet some of them when you come to the school anyway.”
She thought about it then looked at Kayla and back at me. She put her hand on my chest.
“Thank you for checking with me first; that’s really sweet but completely unnecessary. You go and have fun with your colleagues. I’m going to cook dinner tonight and meal prep a little bit. I want to be prepared when I help with the play; I need to stop eating so much crap. Just call me when you get back, and I’ll come over.” She smiled big, looked at Kayla, and then back at me, “Or maybe I’ll just wait in your bed for you.” My dick jumped at the possibility of her waiting in my bed naked.
“You’re helping with the play? Why?” Kayla asked as if she was disgusted at the thought.
I got a little defensive. “I asked her to, and I’m the director.”
“Oh. Um, well cool, I guess.” Kayla said, sounding defeated.
Aubrey just smiled at her and didn’t respond to her last statement. She pulled away from me and started walking towards the car, but she turned back towards us.
“Link, I’ll be in the car; we need to leave in five minutes or so if we’re going to open on time.” Then her attention went to Kayla. “It was good to see you, Kayla. Next time, please call first, just in case we’re busy. I’ll see you at the school soon.”
Before she turned around, I saw the satisfied look on her face.
God, that girl is feisty. “I’ll only be a second,” I called out to assure her.
I grabbed my keys, walked outside, and shut the door. “I’ll be there, Kayla. What time?”
“Oh, I can pick you up if you want,” she said hopefully.
“No, that’s okay. I probably won’t stay long so I can get back here to my girl.” Then I winked to send the point home.
