“Amazing,” I whispered.

“You’re not too shabby yourself,” Madie quipped, her fingers weaving through my hair as we reclined onto the mattress.

I held her closer than ever before then. My kisses almost seem to have become more passionate as well.

Most people seem to think the bond no longer grows once it has been accepted and the marks have been made. I feel pity for those who believe that. It was clear to me that our connection was infinite.

Our bond is never ending and ever growing. Our pup has just grown it that much more and I look forward to seeing how far our bond will grow with more pups to come.

“I love you, Tinkerbell,” I whispered against her lips.

“I love you too, Brady,” she whispered back.

My hands roamed her body until they found the hem of her shirt, the fabric gathering in my grasp as I slid it up her torso, my knuckles brushing her skin, igniting sparks between us.

I heard her let out a soft gasp, and a shiver ran down her spine.

“I thought that feeling would fade after we marked one another,” she moaned as my hand found the swell of her chest.

I chuckled and trailed kisses along her jawbone as I teased and kneaded her breasts. “Not so long as we both live, I’m afraid.”

“Till death do us part?” She chuckled while arching her back against the bed. My lips continued to trail along her chest, my thumb and finger pinching and pulling at her hardened nipple.

Still, I moved lower along her body, her hands digging into my hair as she gasped and moaned. And as I moved along her body, felt the heat of her skin against my own, I couldn’t help but think that I would fight death itself just to be with her like this forever.

Chapter Twenty-One

Madilyn

Alma piled my plate high with food as I watched helplessly from my seat. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Diana struggling to contain her laughter.

“You’re eating for two now,” Alma declared, her tone a mix of command and care. “It’s for the baby.”

“But Alma,” I gently protested, “I don’t think that phrase is meant to be taken quite so literally.”

The older woman scoffed and shook her head dismissively. “Child, I’ve had my share of babies. Trust me, I know exactly how to nourish an expectant mother.”

Diana reached around and handed me a cup with the potion she had personally started making for me after Orion had left for his trip to Alaska nearly two weeks ago.

Ever since he left, I have been babysat by either the beta or alpha family and not allowed to step foot outside of the packhouse without Brady at my side. On top of all that, I was tasked with consuming not only this potion but also another concocted by the crones.

This potion’s purpose was to mask the scent of my baby from the rogue wolf, Tristan. Everyone was convinced that he was coming for me, and if by some miracle he managed to get by all the restrictions and safeguards that the pack had placed around me, they didn’t want him to realize I was pregnant.

Not that it would be much of a secret in a few more months. I wasn’t showing now, but I would eventually be, and unless something big happened between then and now, my pregnancy wouldn’t be able to be hidden from the enemy.

“Has there been any sightings on patrol recently?” I asked Edwardo as he piled his own plate high with food.

He looked up at me and shook his head. “No, there hasn’t been so much as a scent of magic. Not even the witches on patrol with us have sensed anything off.”

I sighed and slumped into my seat. “How am I supposed to get back to my life if they won’t even show themselves to us?”

“Don’t worry, Mija,” Alma cooed as she pushed my plate closer to me. “It won’t be much longer. And besides, the pups love having you spend so much time with them. I think it’s a great way for you to practice having multiple pups someday.”

I shot her a glare, though the edges of my irritation softened as I took a bite of the sausage. “Yeah, well, I’d also appreciate a bit of personal space every now and then.”

“You will be free to do so when we remove the threat to you and the baby,” Edwardo assured me.

I glanced at Diana, who seemed to be the only one to struggle with my predicament. She knew what it was like to feel caged. To desire nothing more than to feel free as others kept her constrained in an invisible cage.
