Emery looks over at me. “Have you ever built a sandcastle before?”

I scoff. “No.”

Her brows lift. “It’s not as easy as you think.”

“How hard can it be?” I push myself up to get ready for dinner.

She lays back on the bed, keeping herself propped up by her elbows. “Uh-huh, famous last words.”

I get changed and the three of us leave for dinner. We find a cute little Mexican restaurant just down the block from our hotel. The food is authentic and delicious and the best part is that they offer American food on the kids’ menu so that Emery and I can enjoy the food we like without having to fight Ava to try everything in front of her. Ava ends up ordering a hot dog and fries while I go for a classic burrito. Emery orders some kind of grilled chicken with rice and cheese sauce. She sucks down a margarita with her meal while I chase mine down with a cold beer and more chips and salsa than anyone should be allowed to consume. By the time we’re walking out, I’m so stuffed I can barely move. But now it’s time to head to the beach and try to build that sand castle. I promised Ava.

We head back to the hotel and change for the beach and load up on towels, buckets, and beach toys. We finally make it down to the beach and start setting up as the sun is just beginning to fall from the sky. We still have a good hour of daylight left though so I pray, it’s enough time to build a sand castle. The three of us gather around, pouring the ocean water on the sand so it’s wet enough to stick and hold as we start stacking. I’m not a master at sand building, but I do a good enough job that Ava is happy with it and in the end, we take a picture of the three of us around the castle for memories.

The sun has fully set and the tide takes away our creation, much to Ava’s dismay. We pack up our things and make our way back into the hotel. Emery helps Ava in the bath while I order some room service to get Ava her regular bedtime snack. An hour later, Ava is out cold in the other room.

“I’m getting in the shower. Want to join me?” Emery asks.

I smile as I stand from the couch. “You know I do.”

She takes my hand, pulling me to the bathroom. She turns on the warm water and I start stripping. By the time she gets her clothes off, I’m wrapping my arms around her and walking her backward into the shower. My mouth finds hers and I kiss her long and hard. I was away all day at my workshop and we’ve had Ava with us every second this evening. I’ve been yearning to feel her lips against mine for hours now. Finally, that wish is coming true and it’s bringing my whole body to life.

She slows the kiss and breaks it, her dark eyes opening to lock with mine. “I’ve spent most of the day on the beach, drenched in sweat. I have sand in places I’d rather not have sand. Before we can continue this, I really do need to shower.” She offers me a breathtaking smile.

“Understood.” I move my hands to her hair, helping to soak it. She tilts her head back, trusting me fully. When her hair is good and wet, I pour some shampoo into my hands and work her hair into a lather. While I wash her hair, she soaps up my chest and arms and stomach.

Even though we’re not kissing or touching sexually, we’re still touching and teasing and by the time we’re both clean, my dick is painfully hard and in desperate need of attention. I shut off the water and grab us some towels. I wrap one around her before drying off myself and wrapping it around my hips. I watch as she combs out her long, blonde hair. We brush our teeth together and then she grabs her bottle of lotion. I squeeze some into my hands, rubbing down her pink back.

“You’re sunburned.” I gently start working the lotion into her skin.

“I know, and I wore sunscreen.”

“I guess you’re just not built to live in Florida.”

She snorts. “I’m not built to live anywhere but a snow cap,” she laughs, rolling her eyes.

I kiss the back of her shoulder. “I love your ivory skin.” Her skin is milky, like porcelain compared to mine that’s naturally tan.

She spins around, wrapping her arms around my neck. “I’ve always hated being so pale. In school, kids teased me and called me a vampire.”

“Kids are mean,” I whisper, leaning in. “You’re gorgeous.” I press my lips to hers, my tongue parting her lips and moving into her mouth. She kisses me, soft, slow. When we’re together, things always get out of hand. What starts off as sweet and innocent often turns rough and serious.

We’ve been extra cautious about being intimate here in Florida. We have conjoining rooms with Ava but we don’t shut the door between our rooms because we don’t want her to get scared. She’s not used to being anywhere but at home or my mom’s. Not being able to shut the door means that we can’t get too carried away. But here in the bathroom, at least there’s one closed door between us.

My hands move to Emery’s thighs and I pick her up against me and set her on the vanity. I step between her parted legs as my hand holds the base of her neck, keeping her mouth glued to mine. I kiss her until we’re both breathless, then I trail kisses across her jaw and down her neck. I kiss her collarbone before tugging at her towel. It falls open, leaving her completely naked for me. My hands roam up the soft skin of her thighs, over her hips, ribs, up to her breasts and fondle them as I kiss my way to her nipples. Her eyes fall shut and she gasps as I tease her and bring her to life.

As I kiss her breasts, I move my hand between her legs. I rub her clit and dip two fingers inside, spreading her arousal between her swollen, blushing folds. I kiss, and touch, and tease until we’re both panting and begging for one another. She slides off the vanity and onto her feet as I kiss her—the vanity sits too high on the wall for me to enter her. I spin her around and bend her over. Taking myself in hand, I thrust my dick into her perfect body, making us both moan and gasp in satisfaction and relief.

I watch as her hands tighten on the edge of the stone vanity. Her knuckles turn white while her slender wrists and forearms flex. I move my eyes to the mirror in front of us. She’s keeping her eyes trained on the floor, but I want to see the pleasure as it crosses her face. Gathering her hair in my hand, I yank her head back until our eyes lock in the mirror.

I thrust deeper and roll my hips as I watch her face. Her brown eyes grow darker, her lids becoming hooded. Keeping her in this position, I can watch her breasts jiggle every time I thrust into her. And keeping our eyes connected while I bury myself inside her only makes me feel even more in tune with her. We’ve only been together a month, but I can already see the huge changes she’s brought about in me. As happy as she makes me feel, I’m also terrified because I’m already falling so deep in love with her. I’m not sure I’ll ever make it out alive.

EMERY

It’s funny how a person can change so much over the course of their life. For instance, when I was leaving home to go to college, I thought I had my whole life all planned out. I was going to leave with Trent. The two of us were going to get our degrees. The first two years of school, we were going to really get the whole college experience by living in the dorms, but by our junior year, we were planning on living together. Over college, we were going to fall even more in love. Our senior year, we’d start planning our wedding. By graduation, we’d both be offered jobs. We’d get married, move back home, and start our lives together. From there, we’d advance in our careers, have kids, grow old together, and live the American dream.

Four years later when I was a senior, my outlook had changed drastically. I no longer wanted the life I had planned when I started college. Suddenly, that life was the very last thing I wanted. I couldn’t imagine only being with one guy my entire life. I couldn’t imagine having children with him. I just knew if I moved forward with my original plan, I’d end up old, looking back on my life and all the mistakes I’d made, full of regret. So I made the very hard decision to break his heart and follow my own.
