“I have everything ready and drawn up for you, Derek. This lightning tattoo is going to look so sweet on your back.” Rooster is pulling up the template he’ll use to trace it out on Derek’s skin, but Derek is shaking his head. Rooster frowns. “Did you change your mind? We’ve been plotting this one for months,” Rooster reminds him, apparently confused by Derek’s sudden change of tone.

“Look, I need you to do something special for me. I need some waves and a shark fin right here.” He pulls up his shirt and displays his impressive physique. He’s pointing to his left pec. There’s already a verse written there, but I guess he’s going to keep filling it up. “It’s important,” Derek tells him.

“Okay. Whatever you say, man. What about you?” He gestures toward me.

“Rib tattoo,” Derek tells him.

“Of?” Rooster asks me pointedly. “You’re gonna have to talk to me, sweetheart. I don’t bite.”

I flush at being called out for my shyness. “I’d like a wave similar to his, with three little hand-drawn fish.”

“Three?” Derek asks.

“Aiden, you, and me,” I tell him plainly. “I wanna remember those summers.”

“Who is going first?” he asks.

“She is,” Derek replies. “We don’t want you chickening out if you have to wait.”

Rooster laughs, starting to leave the room. “Okay, give me a few minutes to get something drawn up. Make yourselves at home.”

Once we’re alone, Derek turns to me. “It’ll be fine, Audrey.”

“I know it will be, and it’ll be worth it. Just nerves,” I say, lying down on the table. I’m glad I went for comfortable today. I’ve got a white crop top on and black biker shorts with flip-flops.

Derek’s outfit reminds me a bit of Rooster’s. He’s wearing a white T-shirt and black sweat shorts. I wonder if when you have tattoos, you dress plainly so those are the star of your outfit. I stare up at the white ceiling, where there’s a mural of lightning and motorcycles. I chuckle at the sight of it.

“What?” Derek looks up from his phone and watches me with raised brows.

“Just thinking about how gynecologists doesn’t have things like this on their ceilings.”

Derek smirks and shakes his head. “I bet not.”

We’re quiet for a while, waiting for Rooster to return with our designs. Finally, the door clicks open, and Rooster enters.

“Lose the shirt,” he tells me.

Despite being so shy and timid by the nearness of the attractive man in the room with me, I’m used to having my shirt off and being just in a sports bra. Most of my shoots are done in just a bra and leggings. It leaves nothing to the imagination. I toss the shirt off and, feeling bold, throw it at Derek. His eyes widen, but he catches it. Rooster chuckles.

“Alright, honey girl, lie down.”

I do as I’m told and wait for the buzzing to start.

“Just try to relax,” he tells me. “This won’t be a piece of cake, but it’s not the worst spot to get tatted.”

He starts up the gun, gets it loaded up with ink, and then presses it to my skin. It feels like more than a pinch, but he gets underway.

“How do you know Derek?” Rooster asks me.

“Rooster,” Derek warns.

I giggle.

“Don’t move,” Rooster commands.

I flush at the correction. “We sort of grew up together. I’m Aiden’s twin sister.” He said he’s done work on all the guys, so I’m assuming that includes my brother.

“Oh, yeah. Now I see the resemblance.” He looks at me for a moment and then winks. “I never knew Ace had a twin sister,” he mutters as he continues to prick away at my skin.
