She screamed as Jeremy pulled open the curtain. Her hand clutched her chest. “Holy shit. Don’t do that.”

“Are you trying to sneak off on me?”

“No.” Angie looked down.

“Yes, you were.” Jeremy stepped in, tugged the curtain closed, and pulled her into his arms. “What’s wrong?”

“I thought one-night stands left in the middle of the night, and it is 9 o’clock in the morning.”

“They do.”

“But you’re still here.” Angie lay her head against his chest and let the water flush away the tears.

“Sugar, I’m not going anywhere.”

“Why?”

Jeremy tilted her chin up. “When I saw you three years ago, I fell knee deep in love with you.”

“No, you didn’t.” The butterflies in her stomach heaved as she shook her head. Could he be serious? No. He was a player. He probably says that to all the girls.

“Yes, I did.” Jeremy kissed her lips.

Her heart turned over at his gentle embrace. “Really?”

“Yes. Really. Niles isn’t wrong. I was kind of a man-whore.”

“Oh.” How could he love her and fuck someone else?

“But he was also wrong. I haven’t touched another woman since the day I saw you wearing that thigh length dress with daisies on it.” He pointed to the one on his chest. “It’s been my favorite flower since then.”

“Why didn’t you say something?” Her whole body buzzed with excitement at his words. Could he be serious about her? She smiled. Yeah. He’s serious. A guy wasn’t celibate for three years unless he was serious.

“You were sixteen and not ready for what I wanted to do.” Jeremy tugged her against his body. “What I want to do.”

“Yeah?” Her nipples puckered as they rubbed against the coarse hairs on his chest. There was a whole lot of things she wanted to do to him as well. “And yesterday?”

“I didn’t want to tell you I loved you in a hallway in front of your brother.”

“Hmm.”

“But, when you left, I told him.”

“You did?” She raised her eyebrows. He had no new markings on his face or his stomach.

“Yes, he took it fine. No more bruises. It helped that Bailey came to my defense. I told her how I felt when they got together.”

Angie rubbed her hands up his back. “Are you leaving tomorrow?”

“Yes, I have to.”

Her heart sunk. Would she ever see Jeremy again?

His mouth trailed kisses down her neck to her collar bone. “I’ve got to get the rest of my stuff boxed up and moved. I bought a house a block down the road from Niles and Bailey’s house.”

“You did?”

Jeremy nodded. “Angie, will you go out on a date with me?”
