I balked slightly. “You did?”

“Yeah, and I even sent you a message on your social media.”

I sighed. “I don’t check that thing.”

“Oh.”

She looked down at the ground and I followed her line of sight, catching a glimpse of the silver heels she was wearing. Damn, she was so hot.

“But I’m here now,” I said, and we both looked up and met each other’s gaze.

“So is my dad.” She chuckled.

“He’s the one who invited me.” I winked. That morning, I’d received a call from Mr. Adler to ask if I was coming to the party or not. Given our deal, I was surprised he had invited me, but he’d insisted, and because I wanted to see Logan again and find out what she was thinking after our kiss on the subway, I told him I would come.

“Really?” I nodded, and she continued. “So he doesn’t have a problem with you distracting me now?”

I shrugged. “I’m not sure, but I think we can take this as a good sign.”

Logan’s green eyes flickered with a mix of surprise and curiosity. “So, what does that mean for us?”

“I don’t know, but here we are.”

She bit her lip, her gaze searching mine. “And what about last night? The kiss?”

I grinned, trying to keep things light. “Well, I wouldn’t mind picking up where we left off. But only if you’re up for it.”

A playful glint appeared in her eyes, and she smirked. “Oh, I’m definitely up for it.”

I didn’t hesitate to press my lips against hers. The taste of raindrops mixed with the warmth of our kiss, but I stopped because I didn’t want us both dripping wet.

“Want to get out of here?” I asked.

“Sure. Where do you want to go?”

“Somewhere more private?”

“Okay. Sounds good to me.”

We walked back inside and Logan grabbed her purse from her room while I waited by the elevators. A few minutes later, she walked out of the apartment and I took her hand as we got into the elevator. Once we were on the ground level, I hailed a cab and gave the driver my address.

“Where’s that?” Logan wondered.

“My place.” I winked.

The taxi came to a stop in front of my building, and I quickly paid the driver, ready to get inside and be alone with Logan. We rushed through the entrance, hand in hand, the eagerness building between us.

As we entered my apartment, I flipped on the entry light and we stepped further inside. I shut and locked the door behind me and then walked to the lamp near the couch and turned it on.

“So, this is your place?” she remarked, glancing around as if trying to take it all in.

“Yeah.”

“No roommates?”

I cracked a grin. “No roommates.”
