I laughed and slapped his hand playfully. “Our parents are here. We need to see them, go to dinner, pray they go to their hotel room, then we can have some alone time.”

He pressed his lips to my ear. “Sexy alone time. I have plans.”

My face must have turned red because Michael pointed at his own cheeks. “I don’t want to know what he said to make you turn into a firetruck.”

“There you are!” Amber hugged me and Evan, then she turned toward Michael to give him an X-rated kiss of her own.

“Get a room,” Evan mocked.

Michael shot him a dirty look after he broke the kiss, then grinned down at Amber. “Did you tell them?”

“No. Did you?” She beamed at him.

“Go ahead.” He kissed her forehead as Amber lifted her left hand.

The gym lights reflected in the diamond ring sitting on her left ring finger. “I said yes.”

I yanked myself out of Evan’s arms to hug my best friend. “Congratulations! That’s amazing!”

“You’ll be a bridesmaid, of course, but we’re not planning the wedding any time soon.” She glanced at Michael. “Maybe next year. Maybe the year after. Maybe we’ll just elope to Vegas. It’s all too new.”

“We’re in no hurry.” Michael tucked Amber under his arm.

Evan shook Michael’s hand. “That’s great, bro. Congrats.”

Amber smiled and looked up at her fiancé. “We need to find Mom and Dad.” She waved at us. Amber and Michael were staying near Ridder, and both had jobs on campus that would get them through as they worked on their graduate degrees. Being a couple hours from Amber would be hard, but I wasn’t worried about that. We’d always be sisters at heart. “See you at the party later.”

I waited until they disappeared into the crowd. “We’re not going to the party, are we?”

“No,” Evan said before taking my hand and leading me into the crowd. “We’re having our own party all night long.”

I laughed; my body instantly hot with need. “Too bad it can’t start now.”

Evan stopped and turned toward me, hunger lighting up his eyes as he pressed another kiss to my lips. “You’re insatiable. I fucking love that about you.”

“Just that?” I said settling close to him.

He raised his eyebrows. “Maybe we should find a utility closet. I could show you all the other things I love about you right now.”

“And you said I’m insatiable.” I poked his side.

“There you are,” Mom said loudly behind me. I cringed at the squeal in her tone. My mom was awesome, but she was also awesomely loud. I turned toward her with Evan stepping up beside me. “This place is so crowded. I didn’t think we’d ever find you.”

“I’m proud of you, Josie,” Dad said, leaning in to kiss my cheek.

Kent glared at Evan before smiling at me. “Good job, sis. You didn’t trip.”

I shook my head, then reintroduced Evan to my family, this time as my boyfriend.

Kent didn’t adjust his fixed glare, then did the whole predictable big brother threat spiel. I rolled my eyes, but Evan took it seriously, especially because Kent really did have a gun and knew how to use it. Not that he would ever do something so stupid, he’d just always threatened my boyfriends. Well, the ones he met at least.

Evan’s parents joined us a few minutes later. Our dads hit it off immediately. Our moms, not so much. Evan’s mom was quiet while mine was the total opposite. At least his little sister Bria hit it off with my brother. Kent immediately treated her like his own sister. After a few minutes of ideal chitchat about the ceremony and pride and bullshit, we agreed to leave for dinner. I’d made reservations earlier in the week at great place that would make everyone happy.

“We’ll meet you there,” I said once we were all outside. “It’s under Brandon,” I added as they walked toward their cars.

“You put it under my name?” Evan asked once we were alone.

“Well, yeah. The one time I put it in my name, you got irritated with the hostess when she couldn’t find our reservation.” I shrugged because it wasn’t a big deal. It was actually kind of funny. Frustrated Evan was sexy. “This way was easier.”
