“But thankfully baseball did work out,” she said.

“Truer words have never been spoken.”

I rotated my thumbs against the ball of her foot, eliciting a low groan. That sexy sound turned my semi-erect dick into a full-blown hardon. After making sure I gave this foot the same amount of attention I’d given the other one, I squeezed it one last time then set it on my thigh.

Holding out my hand, I said, “Why don’t you come a little closer?”

She shifted her legs to the floor, and I was happy she didn’t hestiate in placing her hand in mine so I could pull her against my side. I placed my arm around her shoulders and she rested her head against my chest.

We sat like that for a while, just holding each other. I felt content in a way I never have before.

“Chloe, I’d like to continue seeing you.” She pushed back, just far enough to look me in the eye, so I continued. “I’ve never felt this connection with a woman before and I’d like to see where it can go.”

It seemed to take her forever to answer so I’m sure she heard my relieved breath when she said, “I’d like that.”

Once she spoke those three words, I couldn’t keep from kissing her any longer.

Chloe

Since I first laid eyes on Phillip Riddle, I wondered what it would be like to kiss him. And it seems I’m about to find out.

He ran his fingers through my hair and tilted my head back and to the side. I had expected a full-blown, tongue-tangling kiss, but instead he nibbled at my bottom lip before placing his mouth over mine and applying a wonderful suction that had every erogenous zone throbbing in response.

My mind whirled as Phil’s mouth opened and closed in a steady rhythm over mine. Long and hard, soft and gentle, our tongues twisted, tangled, and tasted, until it turned into something much more than a mere kiss. He literally made love to my mouth and I didn’t want him to stop. A groan emerged from Phil’s chest and he pulled back.

“Wow,” he whispered, panting.

We stared into each other’s eyes as we caught our breath before Phil dipped his head and started all over again. I haven’t made out like this since I was a teenager and I’ve forgotten how hot it is. It would have been so easy to shift my leg over and straddle his lap, but I don’t want to do that just yet.

Yes, he’s very tempting and yes, it’s been a long time since I’ve come with someone else in the room, but I don’t want to have sex with him on the first date. I’m not a prude, but something is telling me to take things slower with him and get to know him better before getting physical.

Phil must feel the same way because he didn’t try to take things further either. He just continued to ravage my mouth and hold me tight.

When we finally came up for air, he tucked me against his side and kissed the top of my head. He traced his fingers along my back in long, lazy strokes, lulling me into a peaceful state somewhere between sleep and wakefullness. I was startled when he spoke.

“You know what my schedule is like, do you think you’ll be able to put up with it?”

I’ve never had a relationship where I was permanently in the same city as the other person long-term anyway. The only difference here is that Phil is the one who will be leaving, not me. But I don’t want to mention past relationships right now.

“I think so.” I shifted back to look him in the eye. “Besides, I’ll have the bakery to focus

on when you’re gone.”

“If I’d been thinking clearly, I would have planned this better.”

“Planned what better?”

“I’m leaving for a ten-day road trip to the West Coast on Monday. So basically I’m starting all this and leaving.” He cupped my face and kissed me then traced my cheeks with his thumbs. “But I couldn’t wait another day to get to know you.”

“Am I dreaming?” I searched his dark green eyes. “Because everything you’re saying seems too good to be true. You being here seems too good to be true.”

The corners of his mouth kicked up into a sexy smile.

“If you’re dreaming, then I must be too.”
