I’ve never minded being on the road before, but being away from Chloe this long is torture. It still amazes me how one minute I didn’t know her and the next I was in love with her. And there’s no doubt in my mind that I love her.
We’ve FaceTimed as often as possible and the sexual tension between us at this point is off the charts. This is our last game on the road and I’ll finally be home with her later tonight. She’s already told me to just come straight to her house, no matter what time I get in, which hopefully won’t be too late.

“You going to the bakery’s grand opening next week?” Dale asked, settling onto the bench beside me.

“That’s good.” He watched Oskar Marquez ground out to second base before speaking again. “So, things are going well with you two?”

Dan McMullen hit a line drive to left field, so I’m on deck. I walked across the dugout to grab my bat and helmet, then stopped before heading out.

The game went by relatively quickly, with us winning 5-1. With the time difference, I didn’t pull up to Chloe’s house until two o’clock in the morning. I sat in my car, looking at the dim light glowing through the window.
