“You look amazing, by the way.” She gave me a dirty grin. “Lift up one of those panels and show me what you got.”

“And give away the goods so early?” I tisked playfully. “You look pretty gorgeous yourself.”

“If only Brick was here to see it.”

“Where are they, anyway?” I looked around.

“Business in the desert.” She shrugged. “They should be back anytime now.”

“Min, can I ask you something?”

“Shoot.”

“Trigger knows what he’s doing, right?”

“What do you mean?”

“Like, when dealing with my father. He’d be careful, right?”

“I’ve never known Trigger to be reckless when it comes to business or shady shit. Something bothering you?”

“I don’t know. This whole thing with my father asking Trigger for help. Something feels…Oh, shit,” I muttered when I saw Knox heading in my direction, “this should be good.”

“Mm.”

“Kenna, I’m so sorry. Leo told me to get the contracts, and I had every intention of doing it. I just got pulled in a different direction and totally forgot.”

“And I suppose my zillion calls and texts didn’t help jog your memory?” I still fumed but tried to keep it in. “You cost me that deal. A deal that would have been great for Grim’s hotel.”

“I know, it’s just that Calli needed me, and?—”

“Wait, you flaked on me because of my sister?”

“We just became exclusive last night. That’s a big step for me.”

“Yeah, it is,” Minnie snorted.

“Don’t you have a dive bar to run?” He made a face at her.

“Yes, and you’ve paid for more than half of it,” she shot back, and he flushed. He knew she was right.

“Look, make it up to me by never doing that again.” I touched his arm and tried to look like I forgave him.

“I won’t. Trust me, Grim already tore me a new asshole for it.”

“Okay, then, it’s over.” That wasn’t quite true because it would take me a long time to get past his reckless behavior, but a scene wasn’t going to change anything. “Just be careful with Calli, okay? That side of the family is slightly off.”

“Spoken like a true sister.” He laughed. “I can handle myself.” He snatched a drink off a waiter’s tray and slipped right back into being Knox. “I’ll see ya around.”

“I hate that he’s dating the see you next Tuesday of Vegas,” Minnie grumbled. “I thought she was all up on Simon Says.”

“Just say cunt, Min, because that’s what she is.” I sipped my drink. “And that’s what I think too, but I’m staying out of it.”

“Cunt,” Minnie repeated under her breath.

“There you are.” Jayden was in front of me with a drink.

I shot Minnie a quick look, but Brick had arrived and wrapped an arm around her shoulder and was whispering something into her ear. She was so in love with Brick that it made my heart full. I knew he loved her, too, but he seemed to be having a midlife crisis or something. He didn’t seem to realize how much he was hurting her. Minnie leaned back with a smile and kissed him. I wondered if I’d ever find love like that.
