It’s pure addiction.

Gently pulling her toward me, I lean forward, stopping just before I reach her lips. It’s my silent way of asking permission, and thank God she doesn’t make me wait.

Her lips hit mine for a second tasting, and this one is intense, a fiery hit charging through my body as she kisses me like I’m her new brand of oxygen.

Parting her lips with my tongue, I enjoy the barely audible groan that vibrates in her throat as her tongue licks the length of mine. My fingers lightly dig into the back of her head, threading between those silky strands as I fight the urge to sweep everything off the table and perch her fine little ass on top of it.

This kiss is blinding me to the fact that this is a public place.

I want her.

My entire body is straining with desire, her hot tongue sucking the cells right out of my brain.

“Oi! Rachel!”

She jerks away from me like her boss just stuck her with a cattle prod. Slapping a hand over her mouth, she spins with wide eyes as the lady behind the counter crosses her arms and narrows her eyes at me.

“She’s got work to do.”

“Sorry,” I murmur, smearing Rachel’s gloss into my lips and licking the taste off.

Rachel won’t even look at me as she darts away from my booth, forgetting the coffeepot.

She has to return moments later to collect it, and I swear her cheeks are neon.

I lightly run the back of my finger down her arm and whisper, “To be continued?”

Her lips twitch, and she gives me the slightest nod before blushing her way across the room and serving two patrons who are fighting laughter as she tries to clear their plates and ask if they’d like any dessert.

CHAPTER 15

RACHEL

Well, the rest of my shift was super awkward, but Liam was waiting for me outside at exactly ten thirty. And the sweet smile on his face helped me forget the fact that I tried to devour him in front of a bunch of people I then had to serve.

The icy air makes me shiver, and I pull my jacket a little tighter around myself as we head home.

It’s kind of becoming our routine any night I’m working the late shift. If Liam can’t make it earlier to study, he still somehow miraculously arrives at closing to walk me to my car. I was so relieved when he showed up tonight. I wasn’t too keen on walking home. Even though the streetlights illuminate the snowy sidewalks and I probably have nothing to fear, it’s a huge reassurance to have this wall of muscle strolling along beside me.

He doesn’t seem to be afraid of anything.

I wish I could be more like that. Mikayla wouldn’t be scared to walk a mile on her own.

Glancing at Liam, I tuck my hands into my pockets, wondering what kind of trip we’ll have tonight. Sometimes we chatter away, talking nonstop as we catch up on each other’s days. Other times he has a hockey buddy with him, and I’ll listen in about aching muscles and misfired pucks. The conversation always continues into the house, drawing the rest of the team until they’re all talking over each other, lamenting or celebrating whatever went down. They’re all so close and supportive. Even when they’re getting in digs, they’re doing it with grins on their faces.

Every now and again, we’ll drive home with barely a whisper between us.

Kind of like now.

We clump through the snow, our breaths creating white puffs in the air as I wonder what he’s thinking.

Did he mind that I kissed him?

Of course he didn’t! He kissed you back.

Nerves fire through me as I relive the way his tongue melted against mine. I swear my lady parts started dancing, a hot salsa working its way up to my nipples, making them pucker.

Seriously. It was so freaking hot.
