I wince and shake my head, feeling bad that I haven’t done that yet. She deserves a nice date. I wonder what she’s into. Fine dining with candlelight or burgers at a picnic table? I can imagine her enjoying both.

“Well, you guys sounded pretty happy to be together on Christmas Eve… and Christmas night… and come to think of it, last night?—”

“Okay, okay, she’s a screamer.”

Ethan chuckles. “You know Casey will have a field day if she’s that loud in Hockey House.”

I cringe, hating the thought already, but the idea of not having her when we return is even worse, and I never want to inhibit her noisy behavior. I love that she lets me know what she likes. Not only is it affirming, but it’s hot as hell. I never want her to stop crying my name or filling the room with her sexy-ass moans.

Shit, I’m getting hard just thinking about it.

“We’ll find a workaround,” I murmur. “We’ll just have to take advantage of those times nobody’s home.”

Ethan sighs. “You know, Mick’s been making noise about wanting to move out.”

“What?” I bolt up in my seat. “Why?”

“Not ’cuz of us,” he assures me. “We’re good. She’s just aware that this thing was supposed to be temporary.”

“But we love having her.”

“I know. Well…” He tips his head. “Not sure about Bax.”

“He’s leaving after graduation.”

“That’s still six months away, and… I think Mick kind of wants her own space a little, too, you know? She loves us, she does, but Hockey House can get busy, and as much as she will never admit this to me, she is a girl, and she misses her kind sometimes.” He grins, but there’s a sad edge to his smile.

“You’re gonna miss her.”

He huffs and shakes his head. “It’s not like she’s leaving me. She just wants to find a small apartment close by. A space to call her own. Find a female roommate to live with.”

“Rachel.” I sit up.

“That’s what I was thinking.” He nods. “Maybe we can help find them a good place, you know? Make it somewhere close so we can still hang out easily. They can come for dinner all the time, and then it gives us a place to hang as well. You can have all the noisy sex you want, and no one’s gonna hassle you about it.” His grin grows wide and wolfish.

I shake my head, unable to help my laughter.

We reach the rink and try for a slot, but it’s booked full. We hang on the sidelines for a while, watching a group of tweens do their best to act like hockey pros. We analyze their moves and point out the guys who look like they could go all the way. A few girls are skating, too, and I think the one with the long black hair has the most potential out of all of them.

“Look how fast she is.” I point with a grin.

Ethan’s nodding, his eyes glued to the rink like he’s reliving a memory of years ago when we used to skate just like this.

“Good times,” I murmur, and he nods, obviously pleased that I read his mind so accurately. We watch for a few more minutes before I glance at my watch. We've got over an hour to kill. “So, what do you want to do now?”

Ethan shrugs, and I’m about to throw out some suggestions when the phone in my pocket starts vibrating.

I spot Rachel’s number and instantly smile. “Hey, pretty lady.”

“Help. Help. Help!” she sobs.

My heart spasms for a second, and I jerk to a stop. I don’t know what my face is doing, but Ethan quickly grabs the phone, putting it on speaker just as Rachel’s yelling, “He hurt Mick and now he’s after me.”

“Who hurt her?” he barks.

I blink, trying to regulate the chaos in my chest. “Where are you?”

“P-Parking garage. We—” She screams, and I swear to God, that’s the worst fucking sound in the world.
