“Yeah, as in if you mess with me, I’ll punch you, and your teeth will wind up in the dirt.”

“Ahh, he sounds nice,” Dean teases.

Holding the cell phone to my ear, I nod. “He is, but he’s in the Savage Angels.”

“The MC? Damn, Lore, I thought you didn’t date bikers?”

“He’s an old flame.” I put my feet on the floor and stand. “Can you give me one more week?”

“I can do that. Thanks, Lore.”

“Thank you for looking after things. I’m not sure what I would have done if you hadn’t stepped up.”

I hear his intake of breath. “So, we’re cool?”

“I’m utterly heartbroken, but yeah,” I reply with a smile in my voice.

Moving through the motel, I open the curtains to find Dirt standing on the other side.

Dean chuckles, and in my mind, I can see him shaking his head at me. “And Lore, you said it was complicated? Uncomplicate it. You deserve to be happy.”

“Thanks, Dean. Talk soon.”

I end the call, open the door, and smile at Dirt. “You stalking me, biker?”

“Could be, if you’re into that sort of thing?”

Holding the door wide open, I grin at him. “Come on in.”

“You were on the phone. I hope I wasn’t interrupting?”

“It was work. Dean, who’s looking after things, wanted to know when I’ll be going back.”

Dirt’s face twists into a scowl. “Ahh, right. So, what did you tell him?”

“In a week.”

His chin goes up, and he runs a hand through his hair. “I thought we’d have more time.”

“Tobias is doing well. The doc said he would be starting physical therapy tomorrow. There’s no need for me to stay.”

Dirt’s eyebrows both shoot up. “Maybe I want you to stay?”

Putting both hands on his face, I move in closer. “We agreed this was temporary, remember?”

“Yeah, but a week isn’t long enough. I need more time with you, Lore.”

“You could come with me? See Willowbrook Falls through my eyes.”

Dirt pulls me close and kisses me as his lips meet mine. There’s a soft brush and a tentative exploration that ignites a spark within me. The kiss deepens, his hands find the small of my back, pulling me in, and slowly our troubles and the outside world fade away. This pull I feel for Dirt intensifies as we kiss. Our breaths become ragged, and the very air around us seems charged with electricity. Every touch sends a shiver through me, and I know I’m lost to him.

Reaching down, I tug at his belt while he kicks out of his boots. His jeans hit the floor with a thud. Dirt’s fingers fumble with the button of my jeans and zipper. When he finally gets them open, I shimmy out of them, and he cups my sex.

First, one finger, then two enter me. “So, fucking tight,” he murmurs between kisses.

“I need you.”

“Not yet.”
