“Yes.”
Tears roll down my cheeks as he slips the ring onto my finger. My hands are shaking as he stands up and hugs me, spinning me around in a tight circle. I laugh and hug him, kissing him as he sets me down on the ground.
“I love you so damn much, Hadley.”
“I love you too.” I wipe away my tears before kissing him again. “I can’t believe we’re going to get married. Holy shit. We’re going to spend the rest of our lives together.”
He laughs and shakes his head. “I’m pretty sure we were already planning on doing that.”
As I look up at him, my heart soaring, I realize how far my life has come. I went from the teenager sleeping in a car to the woman working to save children who are like her.
I have a fiancé and a daughter. I have a house and a teaching career. I’ve gotten everything I’ve ever wanted. Now, I have the rest of my life with Jovan to look forward to.
Thinking about everything that’s changed in the last year makes tears well in my eyes again.
“What are you thinking about right now?” Jovan asks before he kisses my forehead.
I smile up at him, basking in the feeling of being loved by him.
“That life with you by my side is going to be a pretty great adventure.”
