“Mrs. Herrera, I’m going to spend every day of our lives propositioning you.”

The crowd goes wild as Zoe finishes her set.

She jumps around the stage, waving to everyone around her.

I stand and whistle, clapping as loud as I can.

Ava stands on the booth with Camila, beaming smiles on their faces.

“She’s going to be a star,” Ava says as she turns to look at me with wide eyes. “She’s really going to make it as an artist. I always knew that she would, but seeing her up there like this, it’s like she’s finally figured herself out.”

Zoe steps off the stage and makes her way over to our booth.

Her gaze is fixed on me as she weaves through the crowd.

When she’s close, I open my arms and pull her to me. As I kiss her, Ruben and Camila whistle.

“Damn, get a room,” Camila says as Zoe pulls away from me with bright red cheeks. “You know, when you eventually get your own tour, I’m going to need tickets to every show.”

Ava launches herself at Zoe, nearly tackling her. “You were amazing. I mean, you’ve always been amazing up there, but this was different. It was so special! I’m going to need front row seats to every concert when you’re famous.”

Zoe laughs and hugs her sister, rocking back and forth. “What if I get you backstage passes? Maybe a special meet the artist pass.”

The pair of them dissolve into a fit of giggles as they slide into the booth together.

Camila drops down from where she stands, sitting beside Ruben with a grin.

I sit down beside Zoe, nearly bursting with pride.

“You’re so damn talented,” I say as I grab the drink menu and look through it. “One day, when you’re famous, promise that you won’t forget the little people.”

Zoe leans her head on my shoulder as she looks around the table. “I could never forget the people who made me. Without all of you, none of this would be possible.”

I shake my head. “No, Zoe. One way or another, you would’ve made this happen all on your own. There is no way that you wouldn’t have. Being on that stage is what you were meant to do.”

“It was,” Camila says, looking over at me.

She arches an eyebrow and I nod.

The pair of us are going to have a lot to talk about.

There is no doubt in my mind that Zoe is going to get signed to a label soon. After that, it’s only going to be a matter of time before she goes on tour.

I’ll be damned if I’m stuck in Tennessee and missing months of our lives together.

She is more important to me than the cartel ever has been.

If Camila isn’t ready to step up by the time Zoe goes on tour, I’m sure that Ruben will be happy to take the lead.

There’s time to think about that later,

Tonight, I just want to enjoy a night with my wife and our friends. I want to celebrate the fact that we’re all still alive and happy.

It’s been a hard few months, but we’re here, and we’re safe.

Though this might not be the path I thought my life would take, I wouldn’t go back and change a single moment of it.

“Zoe?” I look into her eyes. “I love you so much.”
