“Stronger than me somedays, sheesh,” she joked. “And I’m the wolf here!”

I grinned at her while holding her hands. “Thank you for helping with the dress and the appointment with the witch.”

“I’m always going to be here to help you, GG.”

“Same for you. Always.”

Eric tugged his daughter into a rough hug. The two of them started to tousle like they were about to wrestle, but they settled down and hugged it out some more.

I shook my head with a laugh. “Wolves.”

“We’re great protectors,” Eric said with a wink, “and we make good heaters too.”

I shivered against the chilly breeze. “I’ll definitely need it tonight.”

Kiki gave me a kiss on the cheek before running off to the tent. People were heading in that direction as the music started up on the huge speakers inside. We were expected to go there soon ourselves. But I couldn’t help trailing behind and leisurely strolling with my honey.

I held his hand loosely, comfortably. I enjoyed the fading sounds of people as our world seemed to bubble up against everything else. “This is nice.”

“You’re nice.”

“You’re silly, Captain. Have I said that yet?”

He grinned. “Today? No, you haven’t, baby girl.”

“Also, I know you’re a good heater. You make me sweat.”

“I can make you sweat in other ways.”

My face flushed with heat as my thighs twitched. Oh, that was such a familiar ache. In the chaos after the proposal, we hadn’t had a moment to ourselves. Tonight would be the perfect time for us to get reacquainted.

I was dying for him to be buried between my legs.

But first, we had a reception to attend.

I kissed his hand and led him toward the tent. “Thank you.”

“For what?”

“For being yourself. For letting me in.” I grinned wide. “For being a good heater and holding onto that stone.”

He clutched my hand to his chest. “Thank you for helping my heart.”

“Oh, baby. I’ll do everything to keep that heart healthy. Don’t you worry about that.”

At the tent, we were met with another round of cheers. Blake and Troy welcomed us with open arms and guided us to our table. As everyone got settled at their tables around the makeshift dance floor, Blake and Troy sat across from us.

Blake bowed his head. “We’re grateful you’re going to stay with us, Regina.”

Troy nodded in agreement while wearing a content grin.

“We would like to extend an offer to you to work as our resident practitioner,” he added, “and to say that we welcome you into this pack as an official member whether you accept that offer for employment or not.”

I gasped. “Do you mean that?”

Troy beamed. “We most certainly do, dear Regina.”

I looked up at Eric, who was wearing the biggest smirk. “You did this, didn’t you?”
