“Do you think we’ll run into that old man again?” she teased, taking my hand as I led her to the passenger seat.

“One can only hope,” I answered, helping her with the dress I had planned to take off the second we got to our hotel suite into the high truck. “Huckleberry Joe needs to know that I finally figured out the difference between wants and needs.”

“And am I wearing my wedding gown all the way there?”

“I figured we would stay at our hotel tonight,” I smiled at her. “And then tomorrow, we make the road trip to our destination. Your sister packed for you because she knows where we’ll spend the first couple of days on our honeymoon, so don’t worry about clothing.”

“Oh, so I’m not wearing a wedding dress the entire time? It was smart of you to work that out with her,” she chuckled that I’d made preparations for the first time in history.

“And my mother packed for you for the second part of our honeymoon.”

I waited after I stepped up into the truck, sat in my seat, and started it. Her reaction was precisely what I wanted: shock and curiosity.

“Also, your sister packed your passport because I plan to reintroduce you to Monaco the right way. It truly is one of the most beautiful destinations, and I know how excited you were to enjoy it.”

“I think you’re wonderful,” she answered. “Although I’m worried about what your mother packed for me. I don’t want to be all fancy and?—”

I chuckled, “She didn’t pack for you; I was joking. I would never unleash that torture on you. I mean, I think you’d look amazing in cardigans and loafers or tweed Chanel suits, but I’m not ready for you to dress like her just yet.”

She giggled, looking ravishing, and for the thousandth time today, I couldn’t believe how lucky I was.

“I requested an extra week off work for both of us. We’ll have so many sights to explore in Europe, and I want us to take our time.”

“Well, haven’t you thought of everything, my handsome husband?”

“I have,” I said, excited for our honeymoon.

“Well, you’re missing something,” she said with mischievous eyes.

“Nope,” I answered confidently. “I’ve got it all down.”

“Well, what if I told you I wanted a special gift and only thought of it as I walked out of that little cottage to marry you?”

I looked at her in confusion. “You never ask for gifts. Now that I think about it, you have a great deal of trouble receiving them?”

She laughed, “Well, I never thought I’d ask for this, but I thought of something.”

“What is it?” Finally, the woman was asking for something.

“What if we use our honeymoon to start our own family?”

“Oh, yeah, I didn’t think of that,” I blurted out like an idiot. I was shocked by what she said and immediately thought of my visions while the reverend spoke during our ceremony.

“I know you didn’t,” she said with a smile and intertwined her fingers with mine. “So? Want to think about it?”

“No, I don’t want to think about it,” I said again without thinking.

She frowned in confusion, “Oh, okay.”

“No, no, no. That’s not what I mean,” I instantly leaned over to kiss away the sadness I’d caused. “I don’t want to think about it. Let’s do it. I want a family with you, Mick, and everything that comes with it. There is no greater gift than that.”

“Are you sure?”

“Beyond sure. I love you, Mickie Aster. You are my heart and soul, and I couldn’t ask for a better gift than for you to be the mother of our children. Nothing in the world would make me happier.”

Just when I thought I couldn’t get any happier, I leveled up again. I knew life wouldn’t always be without its ups and downs, but with this goddess at my side—my perfect person who made me a better man every day—I knew I could face anything.

It might not have been the ideal love story from beginning to end, but it was ours…and that made it perfect.

The End
