Nothing.

Frowning, I searched each room, my heart sinking when I realised she wasn’t there.

Probably with Tye or Zeus.

If only I’d said yes to her questions that morning and told her everything, she’d probably be here. In the bath, waiting for me, or naked in my bed with nothing but a smile.

Fuck.

My phone rang, and I jumped, sliding the call open before seeing who it was.

“Hello?”

“Sorry, we missed your call.” Tye yawns. “Are you alright?”

My eyes scanned the room around me.

“I’m back. Elizabeth isn’t here.”

“I know. She’s gone to visit family or something; she texted us earlier. But, wait, didn’t she text you?”

My grip tightened around the phone. “No. She didn’t.”

“Oh. Shit, I’m sorry, man.”

I paced the room, furious that Elizabeth would text Zeus and Tye to tell them she was leaving, but not me. “Did she say anything else?”

“Yeah,” Tye sighed. “She said she wanted us to let her have some space. She’s confused after the stuff with you and her.”

“Great,” I said flatly. “When was this?”

“Tonight. Not long ago, maybe she sent you a text, and it’s not come through.”

“I think we both know she’s not texted me. She asked me the morning I left if I could tell her about…you know. I said no, and it’s been radio silence since.”

“Shit,” Tye said with a sigh.

“Yeah. I tried to call her, but her phone is off,” I admitted, running a hand through my hair.

“She’ll come around. Let her have a few days with her family, then try again.”

“Yeah. Thanks, Tye.”

“You got it.”

I hung up, staring at my phone like it could show me Elizabeth.

But something didn’t feel right.

What family? Elizabeth never once mentioned any family.

“Fuck this.” I threw my phone onto the counter, deciding to wait for Elizabeth to call me.

She would, when she saw my missed calls, I was sure of it.

I wasted some time channel-surfing before deciding to make some food. I can’t stop staring at my phone, willing it to ring.

Ring, you fucker.
