Zeus arched his brow and shook his head at me. “Reign suffered enough over that shit. Now you’re trusting AlexanderfuckingWest after hedruggedyou?”
Zeus strode around the counter, his gaze boring into mine.
Despite myself, I shivered, glancing at Tye, who shrugged helplessly.
“Reign hates himself for that night. There’s no way on thisEarththat he did that, knowing she couldn’t breathe.”
“But I heard his voice on the recordings—”
Zeus slammed a hand down on the counter, and Tye snapped his head up from the pan stacked with bacon and eggs.
“Listen to me. Reign didn’t kill that girl; I don’t give a fuck what AJ West says!”
Tye stared at the sizzling pan, clenching his jaw as Zeus laughed bitterly.
“Hedruggedyou, right?”
I nodded, going to speak before Zeus cut me off.
“Then he plays you videos, voice recordings, and texts when you’redrugged? I’m not buying it. What Iamconcerned about, though, is what happened to youwhileyou were drugged.”
Tye remained silent, and I frowned, backing away from Zeus.
“I don’t remember—”
“Lizzie. I adore you, but you’re naive.” Zeus snapped, glancing at Tye. “Tell me you’re with me on this? AJ must’ve fucking made Lizzie believe this shit, then let her go!”
Tye shrugged, pushing the food around the pan. “What if he didn’t lie, and Reign did?” Tye said quietly, avoiding my gaze. “I’m being the devil’s advocate here, so don’t come at me.”
Zeus looked like he was going to explode.
“Are you both talking about the same fucking guy?Reign?!”
Guilt dripped into my stomach, and I felt nauseous.
“Butyouknew about the girl,” I began, moving my gaze to Zeus. “I didn’t. I told Reign I was in love with him, and he said he’d be my Dom and nothing more.” My voice was shrill now, but I couldn’t stop. “And I begged him to tell me about whateverfucking secrethe was hiding. But he refused.”
Zeus pursed his lips, leaning in close to me. “So you believe a sadist over Reign? I thought better of you, but maybe you’re as bad as AJ.”
I reacted without thinking, my hand stinging with the force of the slap that landed on his cheek. “How fuckingdareyou?”
Zeus smirked, gripping my hands and tugging me close to him, his eyes glinting. “Don’t like the truth, sweetheart?”
“Fuck you!” I sobbed as Tye moved between us.
“Zeus, come on, man.” Tye pulled me into his arms, but Zeus wasn’t finished.
“Why are you running from Reign, huh? Isn’t it fucking obvious he’s in love with you?” His eyes flickered to Tye, and he swallowed hard.
I shook my head, refusing to listen to him.
“We all adore you, Lizzie. We care about you so much; you never need to go anywhere else for anything.” Zeus’s tone softened as he strode over to me, crouching between my knees. “If AJ hurt you, I’ll fucking end him.”
Tears streamed down my face as Zeus grimaced, wiping them away with his thumbs.
“But you and Reign…youhaveto fix this. He’s not that guy, Lizzie. Let him defend himself.”
Tye appeared beside Zeus, running his hand through Zeus’s hair. “I agree with youboth. We need to speak to Reign, but maybe not with Lizzie there.”
