“Good. Then I’ll fuck you in it.”

“Jesus. You’re impossible.”

He slipped from the bed and returned a few moments later with a box fan. He turned it on so it blew across us, and I hauled him back against me. “I need you. I need to know you’re not going anywhere.”

“I’m not. I promise.”

As promised, Carter woke me by wrapping a hand around my cock, and we started the day with a quick but very satisfying fuck.

When we’d dressed and eaten some breakfast, I held out my hand out to him. “Let’s go take care of this.”

He took my hand, and we walked to his vehicle. “I’ll drive,” I said, reaching for his keys.

He scowled. “No, it’s my SUV.”

“Is it going to be like this all the time? You trying to assert your dominance and me trying to put you in your place?” I grabbed the keys from his hand while he stared at me, but he didn’t fight me to get them back.

As I was pulling out of the driveway, Carter laid a hand on my thigh. “I’m never going to surrender to you easily. I don’t think you want that, do you?”

I smiled. “No, I want you just like you are.”

“Then it is always going to be like this.”

I laid my hand over his. “Good.”

On the way we stopped at a shopping center so I could pick up some toiletries and a few outfits that actually fit. X had taken care of getting me an ID and credit cards, so those would be waiting for me.

When we walked into Montgomery Enterprises, I nodded to the guard on duty at the lobby desk. He studied me closely, but he didn’t say anything. I was with his boss after all. We stepped into the executive elevator and headed up to Miles’s office.

Miles’s assistant gave me an appreciative smile when we reached her desk. “Now who is this?” she asked Carter.

I held out my hand. “I’m Matteo. It’s nice to meet you.”

“He’s mine.” Carter told her.

She looked between the two of us and smiled. “That must be…interesting.”

I grinned. “You have no idea.”

“He’s in there,” she said, tilting her head toward Miles’s office. “Mr. Wainwright is with him.”

Carter didn’t bother knocking, he just walked right in. Miles looked up, and his eyes narrowed when he saw me. He snarled at Carter. “What the hell is he doing here? I didn’t tell you to?—”

“Drop it. I don’t always take orders from you, and we need him. It’s time to get down to business.”

Miles looked me up and down. “I’ve got my eye on you.”

I returned the skeptical look. “I’m watching you too.”

Carter stomped into the adjacent conference room and sat down in front of a laptop someone had set up. His fingers banged on the keys far harder than they needed to.

“Baby, are you okay?”

“I’m calling X and getting this going.” He was clearly pissed off at me for playing Miles’s game, but I was having fun, and I suspected Miles was too. If Miles truly objected to me being there, he would have blocked me at the building’s entrance.

Ford gestured toward a chair, and I joined him. Miles stood on the other side of the room with his shoulder resting against the wall. A few seconds later, X’s image popped up on the wall-mounted monitor.

We were all in the middle of saying “hello” when Carter interrupted us. “We don’t need to waste any time. What have you learned?”
