“Well, this just keeps getting fucking better and better,” I drawled out.

“Your girl has some very powerful and wealthy friends, Killian,” Ria stated unnecessarily.

Lennon Marlow-Prince was the youngest and only daughter of Deke Marlow, and Deke Marlow was one of the three powerhouses that made up RMM Investments & Securities. The only reason that I knew this was because you couldn’t live anywhere in America and not know who the Marlows, Reeds, McCellans, and McIntires were. They were just as well-known and as powerful as the Benettis, minus the criminal elements of being in the Mafia.

Well, that I knew of.

“That might explain how her attackers kept ending up in general population,” Francisco said, his theory sounding correct.

I eyed Francisco. “Do you guys know any of her people?”

He gave me a simple nod. “Yes, we do. My father and Ramsey Reed Sr. have a very understandable respect for one another, and they’re even considered friends of sorts.”

I could only stare at him at the thought of Ramsey Reed Sr. and Luca Benetti being BFFs. It was enough to test your faith in God. Then my mind started spinning with the sheer volume of both families. Between them all, they could take over the entire world if they’d had the mind to.

“Whatever Posie Tinley means to you, tread carefully, Killian,” Ria warned. “Not only does she have some serious demons haunting her, but we know her people well enough to know that none of them will tolerate anything happening to that girl. Especially, after everything that she’s already been through.”

“Lennon Prince is no joke,” Vincent added.

Glancing from Vincent to Ria, I looked up at the stunning brunette. “Do you honestly think that I would have asked for your help if I were only in this to get my dick wet?”

“Oh, I know,” she replied. “But you asked for our help before you knew who had her back.”

“Well, if this goes the way I want it to, then it’ll be me who has her back,” I told her, my mind made up where Posie Tinley was concerned.

“Good luck,” Francisco chuckled. “I think you’re going to need it, my friend.”

“Seriously,” Vincent added.

I didn’t doubt it, either. I knew that I was going to need all the luck that I could get with Posie, but that could wait for now. I had an asshole to torture.

Chapter 11

Posie~

“You know, you didn’t have to come check up on me, right?”

“Trust me, Camden wanted me out of the house just as much as I wanted to be gone from there,” Lennon snorted. “As much as I love my family, they have no understanding of what it feels like for your insides to feel like they’re being severed in half once a goddamn month.” I grinned at that. “I can’t wait until Hope gets her period. I’m going to demand an apology from her for all the times that she’s called me crazy.”

“Yeah, no sane person would sign up for this shit,” I agreed. “Eve really ruined womankind with that damn apple.”

“If you ask me, men are the ones that should be suffering for that shit,” Lennon huffed. “No one told Adam to be a damn follower. He should have been man enough to grab Eve by the hair, then drag her out of that goddamn garden. But nooooooooo, it’s all Eve’s fault.”

I started laughing as I finally moved out of the doorway to let Lennon inside my condo. Shutting the door, I turned to see Lennon already making her way into my kitchen. “Hungry?”

“No,” she replied. “Even though I still feel as bloated as a whale, I need water.”

Lennon in no way looked like a whale. Even after giving Camden two children, the woman had a great figure. Granted, she worked out three times a week, but she still looked great. All the women of her family had managed to work off the baby weight after they’d had their children, though Harper had struggled more than the rest of them. However, that’d been because Chance liked Harper with a little bit of extra weight, so the lunatic had kept sabotaging her workout routines.

Getting comfortable on the couch, I waited until Lennon was sitting next to me before I asked, “What’s the real reason that you’re here?” She opened her mouth to lie to me again, but I quickly shut that down. “Now, while you probably are really driving Camden crazy with your period madness, I know for a fact that he can’t stand not to be around you, even in all your crazy glory. So, why did you really fly here to surprise me?”

Now, you’d think that she’d have some shame at being called out, but Lennon wasn’t like normal people. The woman was nothing if not unpredictable.

“I want to talk about the hots that you have for your boss,” she said, grinning like a loon.

“Seriously?” I asked, shaking my head. “You flew all the way over here just to gossip like teenagers?”

“I came all the way over here to beat the truth out of you,” she threatened. “I know that you don’t have a long list of conquests in your past, but I could hear something in your voice when you spoke about your boss, and it’s something that I’ve never heard whenever you’ve spoken about another guy.”
