When I had stormed out of Posie’s condo, I’d had no idea where to go. It wasn’t like I had lots of close friends, and I tried to protect my family from what I did as much as possible. If I ever got arrested for murder, I didn’t want my family perjuring themselves on the witness stand, and they would. I had no doubt that my family would lie for me if they had to.

So, with no family or close friends to turn to, that’s how I had ended up here, the closest place that I could get to a confessional booth, besides a church.

“You look like shit,” Francisco stated dispassionately.

I glanced back at him as he walked into the room. “I helped myself to your brandy,” I said. “Hope you don’t mind.”

“Not at all,” he graciously allowed. “You look like you need it.” He didn’t say anything more as he reached out to shake my hand.

“Thanks,” I deadpanned.

The fucker grinned. “So, what brings you back to my city so soon?” he asked as he went to pour himself a drink, too. “Another asshole that needs to be put down?”

“Lennon Marlow-Prince,” I answered before downing my two fingers of brandy.

“I see,” he stated quietly.

“No, I don’t think that you do.”

Francisco arched a black brow. “Should I call Saveria over for this?”

I shook my head. “I don’t know,” I answered honestly. “I have no fucking idea what is going on.”

“Okay, so why don’t you tell me, then I’ll decide from there,” he suggested.

Taking a deep breath, I told Francisco everything from when I’d left Kurt Oliver a lifeless corpse until now. I told him about making the decision to risk everything for Posie. I told him about not letting her confess what had happened to her. I told him about the sex, though I’d left out the details. Then I told him about the little visit from Lennon Marlow, and I hadn’t left anything out. Even if it made me look like a coward, I told him how she had threatened me, and how she had even professed to be willing to die at the hands of the Benettis for Posie.

When I was done, Francisco had a tiny smirk on his lips, and I didn’t know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Grabbing the brandy decanter, I poured myself another drink because I was pretty sure that I was going to need it.

His black eyes regarded me carefully as he said, “The girl’s got balls, I’ll say that for her.”

I just stared at him knowingly. “That doesn’t help me, Francisco.”

“Give me a moment,” he said as he made his way to his desk. I didn’t say anything as he picked up the phone, then dialed a number.

“Francisco.”

“Hey, Dad,” he greeted. “You got a minute?”

My stomach clenched at the voice of Luca Benetti. Though I’d already met the man a million times over, he still had a way of making me wary. Even though family meant everything to Luca Benetti, he’d slit your throat in a heartbeat if you betrayed him, family or not.

“Of course,” he answered his son easily.

“What can you tell me about Lennon Marlow-Prince.”

The silence was loud as fuck, and this was exactly why I hadn’t wanted to tell Posie about any of this. I was associated with two very powerful families, and the last thing that I wanted to do was cause them to be at odds, and all because I’d gone and fallen in love with Posie after one fucking week.

When Luca finally spoke, it wasn’t good. “I presume that I am on speaker for a reason?”

“Killian is with me,” Francisco told him. “He had the pleasure of running into Mrs. Prince last night and he’s got questions.”

“Killian,” Luca acknowledged.

“Mr. Benetti,” I acknowledged back, refusing to call him Luca, though he had given me leave to do so years ago. Ria was special to him, so I got preferential treatment by association.

“Well, from what I understand, she’s a combination of her father, Ramsey Reed Sr., Liam McCellan, and Ace McIntire all rolled into one,” Luca finally answered. “It’s said that she’s the most cutthroat person in her family, and that it is unwise to underestimate her.”

“You mean, she’s like Ria,” I surmised.
