She let out an unladylike snort. “No,” she answered. “Camden made it before taking our heathens to visit my parents.”

Sitting on one of the stools, I reached out and grabbed a slice of bacon. “He made this?”

“He kept me up all night to sweat the alcohol out of my system and the tradeoff was breakfast.”

I started choking on my bacon, and it took a second for me to not die. “Jesus, Lennon, I didn’t need to know that.”

“You asked,” she said, shrugging.

“I just asked if he made breakfast,” I pointed out. “I didn’t ask what led up to him making breakfast.”

She just shrugged again. “I also don’t have that big of a headache, so I’m winning on all fronts,” she added, and all I could do was shake my head.

“I’m pretty sure that your husband would not appreciate you telling me the details of what happens in your bedroom,” I drawled out.

Lennon looked at me like I was crazy. “Are you serious?” she asked. “He’s a man. If I’m giving him a five-star review, he’d want me to tell everyone.”

That got a smile out of me. “Were you giving him a five-star review?” I teased.

The woman grinned at me. “Always. I have the two kids to prove it.”

“If that’s the case, then your brothers and Chance must be phenomenal in bed. They got three kids each.”

“Yeah, I don’t want to think about what any of my brothers are like in bed,” she grimaced.

“You have hot brothers,” I said. “Deal with it.”

She waved that away. “Okay, no more stalling,” she said, finally getting serious. “I let you distract me with liquor last night, but not today. What’s going on, Pose?”

“I got into a huge fight with Killian,” I admitted. “It was bad, and it’s over, and it just sucks.”

“Is it because he knew about your attack, or is this about how he kills people?”

My head jerked back in pure shock as I just stared at her.

When I finally regained control of my bearings, I repeated her words. “Kills people?”

Lennon ran a hand through her black hair. “Goddamn it,” she hissed.

“What in the hell are you talking about, Lennon?”

With a scowl on her face, she said, “Okay, just…tell me about what happened first, then I’ll tell you what I know.”

Wanting to know what in the hell she was talking about, I quickly rushed through our argument last night, though I’d made sure not to skimp on the details. People couldn’t help you if you weren’t completely honest about your problems, and I genuinely wanted Lennon’s advice. Besides, it wasn’t like Lennon was going to judge me.

When I was done, Lennon went on to tell me about how she’d broken into Killian’s hotel room last night and everything that they had talked about. I listened as she told me things that only happened in movies. I listened as she threatened Killian, and even the goddamn Benettis. I listened as she told me about the ultimatum that she’d given him, and his last night visit made perfect sense now.

I watched as Lennon shrugged her shoulder. “I honestly didn’t think that he was going to fuck shit up this badly, or else I would have told you before telling him what I knew.”

“So, you’re telling me that Killian Warrick, the nation’s most benevolent philanthropist, is a vigilante killer, and that he’s BFFs with the Benettis. Also, not only did you threaten him, but you threatened to defend me against the Benettis if this turned ugly? Do I have that right, Lennon?”

She just shrugged again. “What else was I supposed to do?” she asked. “The dude kills people and runs with the Mafia. Did you honestly think that I was just going to stand back and let you run headfirst into this thing with Killian blind?” She snorted. “Please.”

“I don’t need you starting shit with the Benettis, Le-”

“I’m not worried about the Benettis,” she said like someone with no concept of self-preservation. “They’re not an issue.” I just stared at her. “They got bigger things to deal with than me.”

“Lennon, that’s not the point-”
